Your journey starts with a flight from Frankfurt to Vientiane, Laos's capital. Depending on your airline, you might be departing overnight, so plan accordingly for an early morning or late evening at the airport.

Vientiane
Once you've settled into your hotel in Vientiane, spend the day checking out the city's key temples. Wat Sisaket has thousands of Buddha statues, while Pha That Louang serves as the national shrine and Wat Phra Keo is the former royal temple. As the sun starts to set, head to Patuxai, the local triumphal arch, for views across the city.

Vientiane to Vang Vieng

Landmarks Vang Vieng - Day 4
Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang
An express train takes you to Luang Prabang, the former royal city and a UNESCO World Heritage site. During the journey you'll see scenic countryside throughout Laos. When you arrive, take a walk along the river and check out the Hmong night market before heading to your accommodation.

Landmarks Luang Prabang - Day 5
Luang Prabang
This morning you'll join monks for their traditional alms round, then explore Luang Prabang by tuk tuk. Visit Wat Xieng Thong, Visoun, Aham temples and the former royal palace. Later in the afternoon, you have free time to climb Phou Si temple mountain if you want to catch the sunset from up there.

Luang Prabang

After that you'll head back toward Luang Prabang with an option to visit the Living Land rice farm if you're interested.

Luang Prabang to Don Khone
A flight takes you south to Pakse, then you'll visit Wat Phou, a UNESCO World Heritage temple complex with important Khmer-era artifacts. From there, head into the Mekong Delta where the river splits into thousands of islands. You'll end up on Don Khone Island with a welcome dinner to kick things off.

Don Khone
Check out the turquoise-blue Li Phi waterfalls and see remnants of the colonial period like old buildings and a historic railroad bridge. Khone Phapheng waterfall, the largest in Southeast Asia, shows massive water dropping into the depths. Finish the day with fresh fish and sunset views from your hotel terrace overlooking the river.

You'll fly out of Laos and arrive in Siem Reap, Cambodia, which is the entry point for visiting the temples at Angkor, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Meet your new tour guide and then you're free for the rest of the day to rest up or explore on your own pace.

Siem Reap
After breakfast, start touring Angkor by tuk tuk. Visit the south gate of Angkor Thom with its striking Bayon temple faces and Ta Prohm covered in jungle vines. In the afternoon, see Angkor Wat, the most famous temple here. You'll participate in a traditional Baci ceremony before returning to Siem Reap, then walk through the night market, try street food, and have a drink on Pub Street.
