Itinerary
- Day 1
Lagos
You'll arrive in Lagos and spend your first day settling in at your own pace. The town has that relaxed Mediterranean feel with historic streets that wind down toward the water. The harbor and beaches are right there for you to wander around, so take some time to get oriented and find your favorite spot along the coast. There's no set schedule today, just time to breathe in the salt air and get comfortable before your hiking starts.

- Day 2
Sagres to Figueira
Starting from Sagres, you'll head out on a coastal hike that features some really striking rock formations in shades of black, red, and yellow. The terrain is mostly gentle rolling paths through fragrant macchia scrubland, though you'll scramble over some rocky sections too. Along the way you'll pass several glistening bays before reaching Figueira, a charming village that marks the end of your trek. This hike typically takes about 5-6 hours depending on your pace.

- Day 3
Burgau to Ponta da Piedade
From Burgau, you'll walk along high cliffs with jagged rocky landscapes dropping away to your right. The path leads past cozy coves and hidden grottos tucked into the rock face. Later in the day, you'll approach Ponta da Piedade with its iconic lighthouse sitting above the area's famous rock formations. The combination of cliff-top views and hidden beaches makes this a longer day, usually around 6-7 hours of walking.

- Day 4
Ferragudo to Praia da Marinha
Starting at Ferragudo, you'll trek along cliff paths with steep escarpments on one side and hidden beaches below. After a few hours, you'll stop at a beach bar in Carvoeiro to rest and grab food. Then you continue through the Seven Hanging Valleys, a stretch famous for its rock sculptures and countless bays. The route ends at Praia da Marinha after a solid day of coastal walking.

- Day 5
Coastal Nature Reserve to Faro Island
Today takes you through coastal dunes and lagoons with winding paths across the nature reserve. You'll stop at viewing towers to check out bird species and lagoon views. Later you'll cross a bridge onto the island of Faro, a long sandy strip that's perfect for taking a break and just walking around. This is a less strenuous day compared to the cliff hikes.

- Day 6
Fuzeta to Tavira
You'll start with a short train ride to Fuzeta, a traditional fishing village. From there, the trek takes you through salt ponds and villages with colorful houses. The path follows the edge of the Ria Formosa lagoon through the nature park toward Tavira Island. You'll pass an anchor cemetery and fine sandy beaches along the way. At the end, a boat takes you to Tavira, a historic town known as the 'Venice of the Algarve' for its canals and character.

- Day 7
Tavira to Vila Real de Santo António
This trek takes you to the eastern edge of the Algarve as you approach the Spanish border. You'll walk through gentle dunes and fragrant pine forests across quiet beaches toward the Rio Guadiana estuary. That river marks the boundary between Portugal and Spain. The trail finishes at Vila Real de Santo António, a charming hamlet with historic character and interesting architecture.
