Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Schärding / Passau

    Start in the baroque town of Schärding and take time to walk through the Silberzeile lane with its colorful facades. From there, head to Passau where you can stroll along the newly redesigned pedestrian area in the New Centre, right at the confluence where the Inn flows into the Danube. The riverside setting gives you a nice sense of how these two rivers shape the landscape here.

  2. Day 2

    Passau to Linz

    Get on your bike in Passau and cycle along the Inn until it merges with the Danube, then follow the Danube to Engelhartszell. Stop at the abbey there, which produces its own liquor, then continue on to see the Schlönger Schlinge river bend with its dramatic curves. By evening, you'll reach Linz where you can check out the historic old town or ride up to the Pöstlingberg viewpoint for a wider perspective of the city.

  3. Day 3

    Linz to Melk

    Cycle out from Linz through the Strudengau and Nibelungengau valleys, passing the Celtic village of Mitterkirchen. Continue to Grein, where Austria's oldest city theatre and Greinburg castle are worth stopping for. After that, make your way through Maria Taferl and on to Melk where the abbey sits high above the Danube. The scale of the abbey against the river makes for a memorable sight after cycling all day.

    Melk to Vienna

    Ride into the Wachau region where orchards and vineyards line the route, and you'll participate in an organized wine tasting. Continue past the wine towns of Spitz and Weißenkirchen, then cycle by the Dürnstein castle ruins perched on the hillside. Pass through Krems with its thousand-year-old streets and Tulln with its Roman history before rolling into Vienna to complete your journey.

    Everything was so well organised we could just relax and ride the bikes. We hired bikes and they were in great condition and gave us no problems- I would definitely recommend this holiday. The accomodation was excellent too.

The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
