Itinerary
- Day 1
Moshi to Mount Kilimanjaro
A driver picks you up from Moshi early this morning and takes you to Machame Gate, the southern entrance to Mount Kilimanjaro National Park. You'll handle the final packing details and complete the required paperwork before starting your trek. The path takes you through coffee and corn plantations, then into the rainforest where the real climb begins. By evening you'll reach Machame Camp and settle into your supplied tent for the night.

Machame Camp to Shira 2 Camp
The rainforest hike continues as you follow an ascending path through the valley, transitioning into wilder terrain. You'll tackle the steep Shira plateau during the day and stop for a picnic lunch along the way. The trail brings you to Shira 2 Camp where you'll arrive as evening sets in.

Landmarks/POIs Shira Plateau - Day 3
Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp
Starting from the Gila Plateau, you'll hike through the Garden of the Thousand Miles Fairy before climbing the Lava Tower, nicknamed the 'Shark's Tooth' because of its shape. This section helps your body adjust to the altitude. After resting and having lunch at the tower, you'll continue on to Arrow Glacier at 16,000 feet, then descend to Barranco Camp where you'll sleep tonight.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Today is a bit easier on your body for acclimatization purposes. You'll leave Barranco and make a steep climb up the Barranco Wall into the Karanga Valley. The landscape here includes views of the Heim Glacier, and you'll reach Karanga Camp by evening.

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
You'll hike toward the junction where the Mweka trail connects, then keep ascending to Barafu Hut, your camp for tonight. Once you arrive, the focus shifts to resting and mentally preparing for tomorrow's summit attempt.

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and Mweka Camp
Around midnight you'll start the final push toward the summit. The climb takes you over volcanic scree to Stella Point, where you'll reach at dawn and catch the sunrise. After a short rest, you'll continue up to Uhuru Peak at 19,340 feet, the roof of Africa. Once you've taken photos and soaked in the views, the trek down begins. You'll hike through the night to Mweka Hut, stopping at Barafu Camp for lunch and rest. By evening you'll arrive at Mweka Campsite.

Mweka Camp to Moshi and Arusha
Walking through the lush green forests from Mweka Camp, you'll reach Mweka Gate before noon where you'll receive your summit certificate. After that, a 20 minute drive takes you to Moshi for lunch featuring authentic African food at a local restaurant. Then it's roughly 2 hours to Arusha where your hotel awaits.
