Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu

    You'll arrive at Kathmandu International Airport where a representative meets you for the transfer to your hotel. After checking in, the rest of the day is yours to walk around the historic city and get oriented at your own pace.

  2. Day 2

    Kathmandu

    Following breakfast, you'll have a full guided tour through Kathmandu's main sites. Start at Durbar Square to see the temples and traditional Newari architecture like Kal Bhairav, Hanuman Dhoka, Taleju Temple, Kasthamandap, and Kumari Ghar. From there, head to Swoyambhunath Stupa for valley views before moving on to Pashupatinath Temple along the Bagmati River. Your final stop is Boudhanath Stupa, then you'll wrap up with a welcome dinner in the evening.

    Kathmandu to Phakding

    Catch an early flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Airport, then trek downhill past farmlands and Sherpa villages like Chheplung, Ghat, Sano, and Thulo Gumela. Along the way you'll see Drangdrak Gompa and Pema Choling Gompa monasteries with views of sacred Kumbila mountain and Kusum Kanguru peaks. The day ends when you reach Phakding.

  4. Day 4

    Phakding to Namche Bazaar

    Today's trek takes you to Namche Bazaar through hamlets of Zamphute and Tok Tok with Thamserku mountain in view. You'll pass through Sherpa villages including Benkar, Chumoa, and Monjo before reaching Utche Choling Gompa above the Dudh Koshi River. After entering Sagarmatha National Park, the route gets steeper with a high bridge crossing and a challenging final climb into Namche Bazaar where you'll get your first clear look at Mt. Everest.

  5. Day 5

    Namche Bazaar

    Stay in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization as your body adjusts to the high altitude. Take short walks or hike a few hundred feet to nearby villages and terraced fields to see the local area. You'll have views of Kwangde, Khumbu Peak, Thamserku, and Kusum Kanguru mountains. If it's Saturday, check out the market with its crowds of people in traditional dress.

  6. Day 6

    Namche Bazaar to Yak Kharka

    The trail climbs steeply out of the valley through rhododendron forests with juniper and large conifers appearing as you gain elevation. This section is particularly nice in spring. You'll pass Yak Kharka summer settlements throughout the day with views of Khumbi La and Tawache mountains framing the trek.

  7. Day 7

    Yak Kharka to Machherma

    You'll climb a ridge with excellent views down the valley toward Kangtega and up toward Cho Oyu. After descending to a river, the trail climbs steeply up to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa glacier, and you'll reach Machherma by early afternoon.

  8. Day 8

    Machherma to Gokyo

    Today you trek to Gokyo, which becomes your base camp for the next two nights. Once you arrive, you'll have several days to do various hikes and explore the Gokyo Valley area from this location.

  9. Day 9

    Gokyo

    Spend the day in Gokyo exploring the lake and hiking north to see other sacred lakes in the area. You'll return to Gokyo for the overnight stay, giving you a chance to rest and enjoy the high-altitude setting.

  10. Day 10

    Gokyo Ri

    Get an early start climbing Gokyo Ri. You'll cross the stream at the north end of the village and ascend for about two hours to reach the summit with its prayer flags. From the top, the views are expansive: Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse, and Taboche mountains all visible with the Ngozumpa Glacier spread across the landscape below. Head back down to Gokyo for the night.

  12. Day 12

    Dole to Namche Bazaar

    Continue descending to Namche Bazaar, passing through the typical Sherpa village of Khumjung along the way. As you move down the mountain, the landscape gradually transitions away from the high peaks until you reach Namche Bazaar again.

  13. Day 13

    Namche Bazaar to Lukla

    Follow the Dudhkoshi River back to Lukla where your trek officially concludes. This final section brings you out of the mountains and back to the airport town.

  14. Day 14

    Lukla to Kathmandu

    Fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla Airport. After landing, you'll have free time to shop for gifts and souvenirs. In the evening, join a farewell dinner where you'll review photos and share stories from the trek with others in the group.

    Kathmandu

  • Payment information
    • For any tour departing before February 17th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after February 17th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Alpine Club of Himalaya. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 65 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
