Itinerary
- Day 1
Chiang Rai
You'll arrive in Chiang Rai and get picked up from the airport, then head to your hotel. After settling in, the rest of the day is yours to wander around this quieter city at your own pace. There's a group briefing scheduled for 6 pm to cover what's ahead.

- Day 2
Golden Triangle - Chiang Saen
After breakfast, you'll transfer to Mae Sai at Thailand's northern tip to check out the busy border market. Then the cycling starts with a warm-up ride through the Golden Triangle where Thailand, Burma, and Laos converge at the Ruak and Mekong rivers. You'll pedal through pineapple plantations to reach Chiang Saen, stopping at Wat Phra That Chedi Luang before finishing at your guesthouse.

Chiang Khong
This morning you'll cycle along the Mekong river, riding through thick jungle and passing hill tribe villages with traditional bamboo huts on stilts. By early afternoon you'll arrive in Chiang Khong, which sits right at the Thailand-Laos border crossing point.

Phu Chi Fa
Today gets harder as you climb up to Phu Chi Fa, the highest peak in Chiang Rai province. The views along the way make the work worthwhile, and if you need a break there's a support vehicle following the group. Once you reach the summit, you'll notice it's quite cool up there with interesting insect life and unique plants and animals.

- Day 5
Chiang Kham
An early 4 am trek gets you to the mountain's highest point to see sunrise over the mist-covered jungle, with views down to the Laos border and Mekong River below. After breakfast, you'll have an easier downhill cycling day following the Thailand-Laos border on rougher roads, passing Phu Sang Waterfall thermal spring before reaching your hotel in Chiang Kham.

Chiang Kham
Today's a relaxation day where you can kick back in these nice surroundings. Explore Chiang Kham, home to Thai Lue people who originally came from Yunnan in southern China. You can visit the Thai Lue Cultural Centre near your hotel to learn about their history and traditions, or walk around local temples that interest you.

Phu Lanka
You'll start cycling on a gradual uphill route following winding roads through sprawling rice fields from Yoan. The terrain has rolling hills with some steep sections, and you'll pass traditional temples and teak house villages. Around Phu Lanka there's a lot of wildflowers to see. You'll finish at simple lodging with great early morning views and a chance to learn about Yao culture.

Landmarks Phu Lanka - Day 8
Pua
Get up early to catch the sunrise over the karst rocks, mountains, and valleys often covered in morning mist. On clear days you can see Laos far off. After an easy downhill start, the cycling gets tougher as you work toward Pua, a small busy town in a wide valley with beautiful views east toward Doi Phuka National Park where some peaks reach nearly 2000m.

Landmarks Doi Phuka National Park Pua - Day 9
Bo Kluea
You'll cycle through jungle with a steep challenging climb over the mountain past Doi Phuka National Park. The final part drops downhill to Bo Kluea, a tiny Htin village in a scenic valley near the Lao border. Bo Kluea means salt well in Thai, and the village grew up around two natural saltwater wells where traditional salt mining still happens. Not many foreign visitors make it to this authentic, undisturbed spot.

Landmarks Doi Phuka National Park Bo Kluea - Day 10
Bo Kluea
Today has a few options. You can visit Doi Phuka National Park to see minority communities, caves, waterfalls, and unusual tree types. There's also nearby Nong Bua village in the rice fields along the Nan River with a Thai Lue museum and an old-style Tai Lue house. Check out the three-tiered Silaphet waterfall about 10 km south, and learn about the Royal Phu Fa project that supports Mlabri people who make tea, mulberries, and bark handicrafts.

Nan
You'll cycle from Bo Kluea on classic winding roads with light traffic toward Nan, the capital of Nan province. Nan was an independent region for centuries with limited outside contact. This beautiful town has many well-kept temples that make a great way to finish your ride. Stop at Wat Phumin, built in 1596 with four entrances and Thai Lue style, featuring twelve teak pillars with gold, black and red lacquer elephants and original murals. Browse the interesting national museum. This evening there's a farewell celebratory dinner with the group.
