Itinerary
- Day 1
Porto to Miranda do Douro
You'll be met at Porto airport and driven to Miranda do Douro in the eastern part of the region. The journey itself is worthwhile, following the Douro River Canyon with its dramatic 200-metre cliffs on either side. Once there, you'll walk through the town's medieval walls and get a sense of local culture, including the Pauliteiros folk dancers and the Mirandese language that locals still speak here.

- Day 2
Miranda do Douro
Start by walking through town to see the cathedral and ancient walls, where you'll find yourself surrounded by the high cliffs and gorges. Then head into the Nature Reserve on various paths, passing through small villages and rural farmland. The best part comes when you reach São João das Arribas viewpoint, where the Douro River snakes through those towering cliffs below. Keep an eye out for golden eagles, griffon vultures, Egyptian vultures, and black storks as you hike.

Miranda do Douro to Sendim
Leave Miranda do Douro heading south on trails through the Natural Park. You'll arrive at Picote, a small village with traditional stone buildings and several Douro River viewpoints. After that, continue through quiet countryside filled with native plants and meadows. By evening you'll reach Sendim, a village where agriculture and handicrafts are central to life. Spend some time at the craft shop near the church to see regional traditional costumes and local handiwork.

Sendim
This day involves a round-trip hike on dirt tracks through vineyards, olive groves, and almond orchards across the landscape. You'll walk through one of Europe's largest juniper fields, and locals often enjoy talking about their customs if you cross paths. Later, head back to Sendim and visit the local winery to taste regional wines paired with traditional dishes made from local ingredients.

Sendim to Felgar
A driver will pick you up and take you to Felgar, a village with classical houses perched on a sunny hillside with wide valley views. From there, follow a circular path inland through meadows, olive groves, and broom, with the blue Sabor River visible below. Stop at Ribeiro de Moinhos, which once had around 40 hydraulic mills operating along the water. The area still focuses on agriculture and shepherding, so you'll find excellent local sheep and goat cheeses and regional wines here.

Felgar to Torre de Moncorvo
Walk along a greenway that follows an old railway line starting from Felgar on local roads and tracks. You'll reach the town centre with its beautiful manor houses, a railway museum, and shops selling olive oil, cheese, jams, and wines. After that, climb up to the 12th-century Moncorvo Castle on the hill overlooking the valley and Douro River. Finish your day at a local almond factory where you can see how sugared almonds are made, then return for homemade liqueur tasting paired with Moncorvo almonds.

Torre de Moncorvo to Porto
On your last walking day, you'll leave Torre de Moncorvo on the greenway, the old railway line now converted to dirt road, heading toward Pocinho. Along the way there are views of the Douro River, terraced vineyards, and the Sabor River delta. The railway bridge and dam mark your arrival at Pocinho. Then board a train to Porto, where you'll pass through hills covered in the region's terraced vineyards. You'll arrive at São Bento station, one of the world's most beautiful stations. Your hotel is within walking distance, and you can explore UNESCO World Heritage Porto, including the Luis I Bridge, Port Wine Cellars, and the Ribeira district.
