The path follows the Dudh Kosi River and climbs through the Khumbu valley, passing rhododendron forests that are particularly vibrant if you're traveling in spring. Once you cross the Hillary Bridge, the trail gets steeper, but this effort pays off with your first direct view of Mt. Everest in the distance. You'll stop at Phunge Thanka for lunch, then cross a suspension bridge before climbing steeply for about an hour and a half. When you reach Tengboche, you get views of the surrounding mountains and reach the largest monastery in the Khumbu region. In the evening, there's a monastery prayer ceremony you can attend, and you'll sleep there with meals included.

Labuche to Mt. Everest Base Camp to Gorak Shep

You'll trek through Gorak Shep toward Mt. Everest Base Camp, and the paths can get confusing around the Indian Army mountaineers' memorials, so staying with your guide is important. At this altitude, the thin air makes the trek exhausting as you walk across rocky dunes, moraine, and streams. Once at Base Camp, you see some of the world's highest peaks against the gray, rocky landscape including Khumbuste, Nuptse, and Pumori. After reaching the camp, you head back down to Gorak Shep for the evening with all meals included.

9 Day Everest Base Camp Trek with Sherpa Expedition guide Raju was great! Prior the trip, I sent several emails to Sherpa with load of questions. I received responses quickly with all my questions answered. Guide Raju took good care of us from the moment we exited Kathmandu Airport until we got into the taxi to Kathmandu Airport for the return flight. During the trek, Raju and our porter (Basant) led us the wonderful journey. Raju explained the tradition and culture of local residents, pointed to all those majestic mountain peaks with names. He often let us know the best photo spots and took so many memorable photos of us. Under the care of Raju, my son and I don't have any health issues on the high mountain trails. Thank you Sherpa Expedition Team for once of lifetime trip!
