Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding

Your adventure starts with an early pickup from your hotel for the mountain flight to Lukla. The flight itself is the highlight here, with views of the Himalayan range spreading out below you, including glimpses of Mt. Everest if visibility cooperates. Once you land, you'll meet your local Sherpas who'll be with you for the trek. From there, you head out on foot toward Phakding, which takes about four hours. The path winds through pine and cedar forests and runs alongside the Dudh Kosi River, so the scenery keeps changing as you walk. You'll spend your first night at a tea house in Phakding, getting settled and adjusting to the altitude.

    Start point

    Phakding to Namche Bazaar

After breakfast, you'll trek for 5 to 6 hours toward Namche Bazaar. This stretch crosses the Dudh Kosi River and moves through the Khumbu Valley, passing through Monjo and Jorsalle along the way. The trail gets noticeably steeper as you approach Namche, climbing through blue pine forest. If you're trekking in spring, you might see rhododendron flowers blooming along the path. Namche Bazaar itself is busy and lively, serving as a trading hub where you can check your gear, pick up anything else you need for higher altitudes, and get your bearings before heading further up the mountain.

The trek from Namche to Tengboche spans 4 to 5 hours and brings you closer views of several peaks like Thamserku, Kantega, and Ama-Dablam, with Everest and Lhotse visible in the distance. You'll walk through rhododendron forests, past mani walls and stupas (also called Chortens), heading toward Phunge Thanka where lunch happens. After eating, the trail crosses a suspension bridge before tackling a steep 1.5-hour climb to reach Tengboche. Once there, you'll visit the region's largest monastery and catch the evening prayer ceremony if timing works out. The lodge provides meals included with your overnight stay.

Breakfast comes with mountain views, and then you'll spend some time preparing and stretching before heading out. The trek moves through rhododendron forest toward Deboche, crossing a dramatic bridge over the rushing Imja Khola river. From there, the trail ascends gradually, passing through Pangboche and Somare villages where you'll have lunch. Dughla gives you a chance to rest or grab lunch before things get harder. From that point, the trek becomes more demanding as you climb toward Labuche, ascending the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. That final push to the top takes roughly an hour and ends at stone monuments built to honor climbers who've come through. Labuche to Mount Everest Base Camp and Gorakshep

The trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp goes through Gorak-Shep, and you'll notice memorials honoring Indian Army mountaineers scattered along the route. High altitude can make the path confusing with thin air making everything feel exhausting, so staying close to your guide really matters. You'll cross rocky terrain, moraine fields, and streams before finally reaching Base Camp. Once there, you can see some of the world's highest peaks standing out, including Khumbuste, Nuptse, and Pumori against the gray landscape. Meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included.

After capturing your photos, you'll head back down to Gorakshep for breakfast. Next comes a scenic helicopter flight back to Lukla, giving you another chance to see the Himalayan range from above.
