  I recently completed the 7-day Annapurna Base Camp trek with Wongdi Sherpa as our guide, and I can honestly say it was an unforgettable adventure. From start to finish, everything was handled professionally and smoothly by the company. Wongdi Sherpa was an exceptional guide—knowledgeable, caring, and incredibly experienced. He made sure we were always safe, comfortable, and well-informed about the local culture, wildlife, and geography. The entire team was extremely friendly, supportive, and motivated throughout the trek, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made the challenging journey much more enjoyable. Their hospitality and positive attitude truly enhanced the whole experience. The company’s organization was top-notch, with great attention to detail in logistics, accommodation, and meals. I felt well taken care of every step of the way. I highly recommend this company and especially Wongdi Sherpa for anyone planning to trek Annapurna Base Camp.   If you’re a solo traveller—especially a solo female, please reconsider using Sherpa Expeditions. I felt completely let down, misjudged, and ultimately unsafe on my Annapurna Base Camp trek. For context I have travelled 48 countries and done many tours in my time. Whilst the basic logistics of the tour were smooth. Sherpa lacked the cultural immersion and basic safety that was advertised. In short, I was flown down from ABC with severe sepsis and dehydration after multiple days of trekking and limited assistance or care from my guide. In long, There was a complete disregard for duty of care from my guide, Dewa. Not only was there no apology or ownership of the mistakes made, but the way I was treated throughout the trek (and hospital) left me questioning why I had a guide at all. My porter, was the only one who showed concern, effort, or care. From the very beginning, I was boxed in as the “incapable girl.” I wasn’t provided any information, cultural insight, or even basic trekking guidance. I learned more from other trekkers and their guides than I did from Dewa. Every break I took was met with huffs and eye rolls, and there was zero verbal encouragement or support, even as my condition rapidly declined. While I appreciate they carried my day bag this was the bare minimum. Day 1: Despite clearly stating I was vegetarian and allergic to seafood, I was allowed to order and bite into a seafood pizza. When I reacted and asked for a new meal, it was treated like a burden. A small issue in isolation- but an early red flag. Day 2: I was told multiple times that the walk after lunch would be 90 minutes. It turned out to be 4 hours. Subsequently I ran out of water, became dehydrated, and that marked the beginning of a serious health decline. Day 3: I woke up very very unwell. During the final stretch of this days trek, I was swaying, tripping, stopping every 10 steps, and finally told Dewa my legs had stopped working. On arrival at MBC, I collapsed unconscious on a concrete ledge. Dewa's response? He walked into the tea house, got on the Wi-Fi, and got ready for his lunch. It was my porter who found and helped me. I only received assistance from Dewa after calling him out in front of his peers. The state of the first aid supplies was appalling: The oximeter had no batteries. Enough for 2 attempts. No purification tablets (luckily, I had my own). No basic first aid offered, no health checks, no concern. Only when I spoke up in fear in front of his peers/ messaged the boss were there small acts shown Day 4: Somehow, I made it to ABC in critical condition. There was no care—just constant negative commentary from Dewa about how I should’ve left earlier or moved faster to have had a clearer day. I was struggling to stay upright, and he offered zero encouragement or verbal support. When I said I needed to descend urgently, I was made to wait for him to finish breakfast. Eventually, I was medically evacuated. The doctors at the hospital were shocked by the negligence and asked for more details about my period of unconsciousness- none of which could be provided by Dewa. I was diagnosed with severe sepsis, a gastrointestinal infection, and extreme dehydration, and required four days in hospital. Even then, with drips in my arm after being admitted Dewa made comments like “there are nine more deserving patients at ABC waiting for evacuation”, a completely inappropriate and dismissive statement about the state i was in. I booked this trek expecting adventure, challenge, and cultural immersion—not medical trauma, not being able to trust my guide and a complete disregard for my wellbeing. There is always a risk on a trek in a third world country. However, sherpa advertise themselves on culture, safety and customer service If you value your health, safety, or basic dignity, I urge you to reconsider booking with Sherpa Expeditions. Especially if you are a solo or solo female traveller. My experience was not just disappointing—it was dangerous.

Sherpa Expedition's team took great care in catering to our dietary preferences and ensuring that we had more than enough nourishment to sustain us during our adventure. The guides and porters were the true heroes of this trip. Their expertise and passion for the mountains were evident in every step they took. They shared fascinating insights into the local culture, pointed out interesting landmarks, and regaled us with captivating stories. Their commitment to our safety and well-being was unwavering, and their infectious enthusiasm made every challenge seem conquerable. I am incredibly grateful to Sherpa Expedition and Trekking Team for making this trip an unforgettable adventure. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to providing an outstanding experience were truly remarkable. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking a well-organized and unforgettable trekking adventure. I am already eagerly planning my next trip with them, as I know it will be nothing short of extraordinary.

  Our trek with Dorje from Sherpa Expedition and Trekking was absolutely wonderful. Despite not reaching the base camp, the Annapurna Base Camp trek provided us with incredible views, diverse landscapes, and a chance to immerse ourselves in nature. Dorje's professionalism, knowledge, and genuine care for our well-being were evident throughout the trek. He made sure we had an amazing experience, sharing his wisdom and passion for the mountains.
