  1. Day 1

    Embarkation

    You'll board your river ship and get settled into your luxury stateroom as the Flavors of Portugal and Spain cruise gets underway. Dinner is served this evening, so you can relax after boarding and meet fellow passengers.

  2. Day 2

    Pinhão

    This morning you'll visit Castelo Rodrigo, the White Village known for its almond trees and 16th-century architecture winding through medieval streets. There's a local tasting of almonds, cheese, bread and wine, or you can hike up to the town if you prefer. After that, the ship cruises along the scenic Douro River heading toward Pinhão.

Lunch happens at Quinta de Avessada, a family-run wine property with entertainment and interactive museum exhibits about wine production. Later in the day, you'll join a wine tasting at a local quinta.

    Check out the Baroque architecture and gardens at Mateus Palace this morning. In the afternoon, you have options: visit Lamego and the Nossa Senhora dos Remédios pilgrimage sanctuary, or tackle the famous Lamego Steps (Holy Staircase) if you want a more active experience.

    Spend the day cruising along the Douro River from Régua to Entre-Os-Rios, taking in the riverside scenery. Later, you'll have a traditional home-cooked meal at a local quinta, which gives you a real taste of how people in the region cook and live.

    Porto

    The ship arrives in Porto where you'll take a guided tour of the historic quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll see the Cathedral, the main square, and São Bento Railway Station with its distinctive blue and white tile panels. There's also a Port wine tasting included. Alternatively, you can hike through Porto's old harbor quarter and medieval streets and do a Port wine tasting on your own.

Any optional excursion other than the ones mentioned in the Itinerary will come at an extra cost and these will be advised of in your final documents sent to you prior to your departure.

  • Payment information
    • For any tour departing before February 8th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after February 8th, 2026, a minimum payment of $575 is required to confirm your booking with AmaWaterways. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 95 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
    • The following cards are accepted for "AmaWaterways" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
