Itinerary
- Day 1
Windhoek to Sossusvlei
Your driver picks you up from your Windhoek accommodation between 08:00 and 08:30, then you'll drive through some nice scenery crossing the Eros Mountains and Khomas Hochland Range. The landscape shifts as you descend into the Namib Desert. A stop at Solitaire gives you a chance to stretch and try their famous apple pie, which is worth the break. You'll reach your lodge in the Sossusvlei area by early afternoon, and after settling in, you'll join a shared sundowner drive later to watch the sunset over the dunes.

Sossusvlei
An early wake-up gets you to the Sesriem entrance gate before dawn so you can enter the park at sunrise. From there, you'll drive through the Namib Desert looking for wildlife like gemsbok, springbok, and ostrich. Dune 45 comes first, a 170-meter star dune where you can climb to the top if you're up for it, which gives you great panoramic views. Next is Deadvlei at the heart of Sossusvlei, where ancient skeletal camelthorn trees stand in an empty vlei. After lunch at Sossusvlei Lodge, you'll check out Sesriem Canyon, a natural gorge that water carved over centuries, before heading back to your lodge.

Sossusvlei to Swakopmund
You'll leave the desert and head toward the Atlantic coast, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn and traveling through the scenic Gaub and Kuiseb passes. Walvis Bay is next, where you can visit the lagoon to see flamingos and other birds, plus visit the salt works. Then it's on to Swakopmund, a charming coastal town with German colonial heritage, historic architecture, and plenty of cafés serving German cakes and pastries. Dinner at a local restaurant is included, and you'll overnight in a comfortable hotel in town.

Swakopmund
Head north to Cape Cross to see the vast seal colony with thousands of wild Cape fur seals in their natural setting. After you return to Swakopmund, the rest of the day is yours to explore at your own pace. Walk around and check out the German colonial architecture, palm-lined avenues, good restaurants, shops, beaches, a museum, and an aquarium. If you're interested in more action, optional activities can be arranged.

Swakopmund to Windhoek
Today you'll head back to Windhoek traveling through central Namibia's fascinating landscapes. You'll pass the region's marble and uranium mines, which show the country's key industries. Stop at Okahandja, the administrative center of the Herero people and home to Namibia's largest craft market where you can browse locally made crafts and souvenirs. You'll arrive in Windhoek just after lunch and get dropped off at your accommodation, marking the end of your trip.
