Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
Start with an early breakfast at your hotel, then head to the airport for a scenic flight to Lukla with mountain views throughout. Landing on Lukla's short runway is an experience in itself. From there, you'll begin trekking toward Phakding, walking through farmland and passing Mani walls and suspension bridges. On clear days, you might catch views of Kusum Kanguru peak in the distance.

Phakding to Namche
This is one of the trek's more difficult days. You'll contour along the Dudhkoshi River with frequent switchbacks as you ascend. Waterfalls appear at Toctoc and Bengkar villages, where local apple pies are available if you want a snack break. The path then moves into Sagarmatha National Park's forest where Blue Sheep sometimes show up, and occasionally red pandas if you're lucky. Mount Everest comes into view before you reach Namche and pass through its welcoming Kani Gate.

- Day 3
Namche Acclimatization
You'll trek through Tenzing Norgay Sherpa's memorial stupa with forest walks leading to a viewpoint with mountain views. At Phunke Tenga, you'll find water-driven prayer wheels that spin with the current. Locals say spinning them is the same as chanting the Buddhist mantra 'Om Mane Padme Hum' and brings good luck. After that, head through the Saso Kharka meadows to Tengboche and visit the region's largest monastery.

Tengboche to Dingboche
Begin with early morning prayer ceremonies at Tengboche Monastery, then explore its interior with traditional Buddha and Guru Rinpoche paintings. From there, trek to Deboche with views of Ama Dablam, cross a bridge west of Imja Khola, and pass large black rocks that once sheltered porters during storms. Continue through Somare to reach Dingboche, a traditional stone village surrounded by protective walls and known for yak herding.

Dingboche to Lobuche
This day splits into two distinct parts across moraine terrain. First, you'll ascend the moraine ridge through pastures to Dughla. Then comes the more challenging second part where you descend steep bluffs to reach Lobuche. Mountain views might be hazy, but when it's clear, Nuptse peak is visible from the lodge window.

Lobuche to Gorakshep and Kala Patthar
This is the main event. You'll trek early, before sunrise, to Gorakshep to dodge intense icy winds from the glaciers. From there, head to Kala Patthar viewpoint at 5,550m/18,209 feet for a 360-degree view of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kantega. After taking in the views, return to Gorakshep for the night.

- Day 7
Gorakshep to Pheriche
Hike pre-dawn to Kala Patthar's summit at 5,550m/18,209 feet to catch the sunrise over Mount Everest with panoramic views of Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and Khumbu Glacier. Descend to Gorakshep for breakfast, then trek downhill to Pheriche through alpine landscapes, glacial valleys, and small settlements with peak views throughout and time to reflect on your experience.

Trek downhill as scenery changes from icy peaks to lush green hills. You'll pass through villages of Pangboche, Debuche, and Tengboche, where you can stop at the famous monastery. After walking through alpine meadows and rhododendron forests, watch for Himalayan wildlife like musk deer, tahr, or pheasants. By evening, reach Namche Bazaar, the lively center of the Everest region, where you can have a hot shower and browse souvenir shops in the bustling markets.

Namche Bazaar to Lukla
On your final trekking day, follow the Dudh Koshi River downhill from Namche to Lukla, passing suspension bridges, Mani walls, and colorful prayer flags. Trek through traditional Sherpa villages like Monjo, Phakding, and Chheplung, taking in the culture and natural surroundings. After roughly 6 to 7 hours of trekking, you'll arrive at Lukla to celebrate the end of the trek with your guide and porters.
