Itinerary
- Day 1
Airport/Hotel to Anuradhapura
You'll get picked up from the airport or your hotel on the West Coast and head to Anuradhapura with a stop at Wilpattu National Park. This wildlife sanctuary has around 50 wild leopards and important bird populations, plus ancient ruins tied to Sri Lankan history. You'll stay overnight in Anuradhapura.

- Day 2
Anuradhapura to Trincomalee
The day starts by checking out Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka's most celebrated ancient ruined city and a UNESCO World Heritage site. You'll see the Thuparama dagoba with its distinctive elephant frieze and the sacred Bo Tree, said to be the oldest authenticated tree in the world from a cutting brought from India 2,250 years ago. After that, you'll drive to Trincomalee on the East Coast to visit the Koneswaram Temple on Swami Rock (good for whale watching), the nearby Gokanna Temple, and finish the afternoon at Kanniya Hot Wells with its seven thermal springs.

- Day 3
Trincomalee
This morning you'll do whale watching to see blue whales, sperm whales, orcas, dolphins, turtles, and whale sharks. The tour can be done from shore or on an excursion boat. In the afternoon, you'll relax at Nilaveli Beach facing Pigeon Island Marine National Park, where snorkeling or scuba diving lets you see bright corals and colorful fish in clear waters.

Trincomalee to Negombo
Climb the UNESCO World Heritage Site Sigiriya Rock in the Cultural Triangle to take in views of Central Sri Lanka. This 200-meter high rock fortress dates back to AD 477 and has ancient palace ruins, wall paintings, gardens, reservoirs, and giant lion's paws carved into the rock. Later, you'll drive to Negombo Beach to watch traditional outrigger canoes and fishing boats, and see lobsters and prawns being caught in the lagoon.

Negombo to Airport
Depending on your departure time, you can head to the airport after breakfast or spend time exploring Negombo. Options include the remains of the 17th-century Dutch Fort, the Negombo Lagoon lined with fishermen's huts and the Dutch-era Hamilton Canal, and the neoclassical St. Mary's Church with vivid religious ceiling paintings.
