Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Casablanca

Your local representative will meet you at Casablanca airport and take you to your hotel. The welcome meeting isn't until 5 pm, so you've got the afternoon free. If your flight gets in early, there's plenty to see around the city like the art deco buildings, Hassan II Mosque, or the old medina. Grabbing mint tea at a local café is a nice way to start adjusting to Morocco.

    Optional Activities

    • Explore Hassan II Mosque
    • Wander the old medina and city walls
    • Visit Quartiers des Habous (new medina)
    • Walk along the Corniche
    • Visit local cafés
    Landmarks/POIs
    Hassan II Mosque
  2. Day 2

    Casablanca to Fes

After breakfast, you'll go on a guided tour of the Hassan II Mosque. Then it's time to travel to Fes, which sits at the heart of Morocco's spiritual and cultural scene. Once you arrive, you'll walk through Fes el Bali, the old medieval center that's genuinely one of the most intricate places around. Your afternoon is yours to do what you want, whether that's by the pool or wandering more on your own.

  3. Day 3

    Fes

Spend the full day in Fes's Old City navigating the narrow streets and alleys where donkeys pass by carrying goods. The souk has different sections dedicated to specific goods, and you'll come across historic khans, madrasas, and the famous dye-pits. You can see fruit and herb stalls, visit Medersa el-Attarine, and check out the local tanneries. By late afternoon you'll head back to your hotel to relax away from the medina commotion.

  4. Day 4

    Fes to Midelt

You'll leave the city in a private minibus and head through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through valleys with pine forests and rocky terrain. There's a chance to spot nomadic shepherds or Barbary apes along the way. After arriving in Midelt, a market town surrounded by farms and orchards, you'll walk through a Berber village to see how locals farm the land. A home-cooked lunch is included, and afterward you can relax or swim at the hotel pool.

    Midelt to Merzouga

Your private minivan heads toward the Sahara, passing kasbahs and palmeries along the way. You'll go through towns like Erfoud and Rissani where the landscape changes from barren mountains to lush valleys. Once at Merzouga village, you'll get on a camel for a one-hour ride into the desert as the sun sets. That night you'll sleep under the stars at a luxury desert camp where locals prepare a hearty meal.

After leaving the desert, you'll drive to Todra Gorge and stop at a fossil factory to learn about the region. Then continue into Todra Valley, which sits along the Atlas Mountain foothills and has mud-brick villages built into the hillsides. The green valleys and rock formations carved by wind make it a striking landscape, and you'll be staying here for two nights.

A guided hike through the gorge and over a mountain pass is really worth doing, a 10 km loop that takes around 4 hours and requires basic fitness level. You'll pass through villages, meet locals, possibly share mint tea, and see mountain views with the Rose Valley in the distance. A local family will have lunch ready for you. The afternoon is free to hike more or use the hotel pool.

Then you'll join a hands-on cooking class to learn how to prepare Moroccan pancakes and other dishes. Unfortunately 09APR23 departure only has 3 spaces left and a minimum age requirement of 5. Will your 4 year old be within a few months of turning 5 by chance? If so we still have enough space for the 4 of you on 24JUN23 departure.
