Itinerary
- Day 1
Launceston to Cradle Mountain National Park
Starting early from Launceston, head toward Cradle Mountain National Park and stop in Sheffield first to walk around and see the town's mural displays. From there, drive through rainforest-lined roads into the mountains. You'll do an easy guided walk to Pencil Pine Falls as a warm-up, then tackle the moderate 6km Dove Lake Circuit walk which shows off the alpine scenery really well. If you want more of a challenge, Marion's Lookout gets you even higher views. After hiking, grab ice cream and raspberry treats at Van Diemen's Ice Creamery and Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm before heading back to Launceston by evening.

Launceston to Hobart via Wineglass Bay
Leave Launceston heading east and stop in Campbell Town to look around the Georgian township and learn about its convict history, plus pick up supplies. You'll arrive at Freycinet National Park where The Hazards come into view. Start with a quick 20-minute walk on the Cape Tourville Lighthouse circuit to get 360-degree views, then hike as a group to the Wineglass Bay Lookout, which takes about 45 minutes up and shows off one of the Southern Hemisphere's top viewpoints. From there you can either continue down to the white sand beach for swimming and watching for dolphins, or check out Honeymoon Bay with your guide. In the afternoon, head to Devil's Corner Winery perched on a hill overlooking Freycinet where you can relax with wine, seafood, pizza, or gelato. Drive to Hobart afterward.

Hobart to Port Arthur Historic Site and Tasman Peninsula
Travel from Hobart to the Tasman Peninsula where the Southern Ocean has carved caves and arches into the rocks. Spend the morning walking along clifftop paths at 300 metres high, stopping at lookouts to watch waves crash against dolerite spires. You'll see Pirates Bay, Waterfall Bay, Tasman Arch, and Devil's Kitchen to hit all the key viewpoints. Next, visit the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo where you'll watch the animals during feeding time and hand-feed wallabies, plus catch a Birds of the Bush talk. Spend around 2 hours exploring the convict ruins at Port Arthur Historic Site and take the complimentary harbour cruise around the Isle of the Dead. End the day in the historic village of Richmond, walking around the stone buildings and checking out Australia's oldest bridge that convicts built.
