- Steven· March 15th, 2025We love Buddha so we visited all the Buddhist destinations in India and Nepal with Alkof holidays this February, and it was an amazing tour, the driver Mr. Pandey was very experienced and he knew all the routes, and all the key attractions. Our tour guide Avinash was very knowledgeable, and he told many things about each destination we visited. All the hotels provided were very good, staff were very nice, and Sanjeev from there office in Delhi helped us a lot in customizing the tour to our need. He is very experienced in Buddhis tour, even he met us in Lumbini when we arrived, he came there with a group also doing the same tour. I can recommend this tour to anybody looking to visit India. Just 1 thing you should remember is that we spend around 4 to 5 hrs on immigration from India to Nepal, and approx same time coming back, because there were many people before us, but alkof helped us everywhere and it was a very smooth journey. We preferred Buddist Pilgrimage and visited main 8 destinations connected to Budda's life, including Lumbini, Shravasti, Bodhgaya, Sarnatkh, Sankassa, Vaishali and Kushinagar. Tour assistant Sanjeev Kumar was extremely helpful, trying to fulfill all our requests regarding tour itinerary, and very thoutful and caring throughout our tour. - DDon· January 2nd, 2020This was a good tour. However, I would warn future travelers that this is not a fully escorted tour. You will have a driver (who may not may not be fluent in English) and then different local tour guides at each destination. I would also warn that you will spend A LOT of time in a car driving down very bumpy roads through the heart of India - this tour is not for the faint of heart! I am not sure that the company fully vetted the Buddhist Tour with Taj before we went on the trip, as we went to two different boarder crossing before being allowed into Nepal, and the two previous attempts were very unnerving when the military questioned us. Also, the driver did an amazing job, but it was clear that he had never done the trip before, because he stopped and asked strangers on the street to give him directions to the attractions on the itinerary.
