Itinerary
- Day 1
Accra
You'll arrive in Accra and meet your Landtours representatives at the airport for your transfer to the hotel. After settling in, there's a welcome drink and orientation session. If you're interested, dressmakers are available to take your measurements and sew traditional cloths for you.

- Day 2
Accra
Following breakfast, you'll take a sightseeing tour around Accra hitting the W.E.B. Du Bois Center for Pan African Culture and Independence/Black Star Square. Then you'll head to Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to see the museum, mausoleum, and gardens. The afternoon brings you to the Arts Center where you can shop the open-air market for fabrics and goods from Ghana and West Africa.

Accra to Cape Coast
After breakfast, you'll check out and drive to Cape Coast for tours of the historic Forts and Castles. Following lunch, you're heading to Elmina Castle to learn about the trans-Atlantic slave trade and see the slave dungeons. From there, you'll continue on to Cape Coast Castle, built by the Swedes in 1653 and later controlled by the British, which also has the West African Historical Museum inside.

- Day 4
Elmina
You'll start with breakfast and then explore the fishing village of Elmina, meeting local fishermen to hear about their trade and the challenges they face daily. At the fish mongers, you can see the different stages of smoking fish in earthenware ovens. After dinner comes 'Reverential Night' with candlelit processions, a vigil honoring Africans who died in the slave trade, a ceremony re-enacting the slave passage through the 'Door of No Return,' and a midnight Emancipation Day declaration.

Elmina to Kumasi
Following breakfast, you'll check out and drive through the former slave route to Assin Manso, the final transit point for enslaved Africans. You'll visit the slave dungeons and the resting place of two ancestors returned from the USA and Jamaica. The Grand Durbar of Traditional Chiefs comes next, showcasing Ghana's traditional rulers in Kente cloth and gold jewelry. After experiencing African drumming, you'll continue driving through the forest to Kumasi, the seat of the Ashanti Empire.

Kumasi
After breakfast, you'll visit the Manhyia Palace Museum to learn about the Ashanti kingdom's history from 1700 onward through relics and artifacts. A city tour follows with monuments to great Ashanti people, and you'll check out the famous Kejetia market and National Cultural Centre with the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum. You'll also explore three craft villages: Ahwiaa for wood carvers, Ntonso for Adinkra cloth, and Adanwomase for Kente weaving, where you can see how things are made and buy directly from the artisans.

Kumasi to Accra
You'll have breakfast, check out, and depart for Accra. On the drive, you'll stop at Besease Shrine near Ejisu, a world heritage site and traditional fetish shrine. You can observe the unique architecture and experience ancestral worship practices. Then you'll continue on to Accra and check into your hotel.

Accra
After breakfast, you'll depart Accra and head to a village on the lower course of the Volta River. You'll pay a courtesy call on the chief and elders with traditional drumming and dancing from villagers. Then comes a naming ceremony where you receive a Ghanaian name and gift as recognition of your new identity as a Ghanaian and community member before heading back to Accra.

Landmarks Volta River Village - Day 9
Accra to Lome
Following breakfast, you'll check out and head to Togo. Upon arrival in Lome, you'll take a city tour including the Musée National and Place de l'Independence where the Independence Monument is located. You'll also visit the Grand Marche and Marche des Feticheurs, the Fetish Market.

Lome to Cotonou
After breakfast, you'll check out and depart for Ouidah, known as the cradle of African Traditional Religion, on your way to Cotonou. You'll tour the temple dedicated to the sacred Python believed to give vitality and protection, and visit the sacred forest with shrines to various deities. At the Port of No Return, a monument built by the Benin Government commemorating Africans taken during the slave trade from the Dahomey Empire, you'll pay your respects. Then you'll continue to Cotonou, check into your hotel, and rest.

Cotonou
Following breakfast, you'll visit Ganvie, the village on water commonly called the Venice of West Africa. You'll see vendors in dugout canoes conducting daily commerce and selling to tourists. The day includes shopping on the floating market and taking a relaxing canoe ride through the waterways of this 300-year-old village.

Cotonou to Accra
After breakfast, you'll check out and depart for Accra. You'll stop in Lome for lunch at a beachside restaurant at your own expense, then continue on to Accra.
