Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Tarangire National Park

You'll head out after breakfast with packed lunches heading to Tarangire National Park for a full game drive. The park's known for its large elephant herds, and you'll likely see lions, leopards, and cheetahs throughout the day. Animals congregate along the Tarangire River, which is the only permanent water source in the area, so that's where the action tends to be. The baobab trees dotting the landscape are pretty striking too. After the drive, you'll settle in at Tarangire River Camp for dinner and the night.

Breakfast, Lunch (Lunch boxes in the car), Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Full day game drive in Tarangire National Park
    • Wildlife viewing including elephant, lion, leopard, and cheetah

  2. Day 2

    Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you're heading to Serengeti National Park with a picnic lunch for the drive. You'll have afternoon game viewing here, and this is where you'll see those massive herds of wildebeests and zebras along with their predators. If timing works out, you might catch part of the famous annual migration. It's one of those parks where wildlife concentration is just on another level. You'll stay overnight at either Serengeti Heritage Luxury Camp or Serena Hotel, with dinner included.

  3. Day 3

    Serengeti National Park

This morning starts with a game drive right after breakfast to explore the Serengeti plains, which seem to go on forever. Depending on the season, you could see thousands of zebras and wildebeests migrating from the Masai Mara. You'll have a packed lunch somewhere out there, then head back out for another game drive in the afternoon. By evening you'll be back at Serengeti Heritage Luxury Camp or Serena Hotel for dinner and overnight.

    Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

You'll do a morning and early afternoon game drive in the Serengeti after breakfast, then have a hot lunch at the lodge around midday. From there, you're heading toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and you'll pass through Olduvai Gorge, which is one of East Africa's most important archaeological sites often called the Cradle of Mankind. It's a long drive with interesting stops, so you'll arrive at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge or Angata Luxury Camp later for dinner and overnight.

This collapsed volcanic caldera from 25 million years ago holds one of Africa's largest permanent wildlife concentrations including wildebeest, buffalo, gazelle, zebra, lions, leopards, hyenas, and black rhinos. There's a soda lake too that brings in flamingos and water birds. You'll eat a packed lunch down in the crater, then at 4 PM you'll head back up to the top and drive to Karatu where you'll have dinner and stay at Kitela Lodge.

The park is known for its tree-climbing lions and it's fantastic if you're into birdwatching with spoonbills, pelicans, kingfishers, and cormorants around. Forest monkeys move through the tall trees along the Great Rift escarpment. You'll have morning and afternoon game drives here, then at 1 PM you're heading out to Kilimanjaro Airport for your international flight. If you want to extend to Zanzibar, that option is available.

My friend and I did a customized 11 days Safari in the north of Tanzania with GEMUKA adventures and it was just incredible! It went all very well, a friend had recommended the guide George he had been traveling with a few months earlier to us, so we contacted him and then worked out the itinerary together with Hawa, the company owner. He was very open and friendly and came up with a very interesting itinerary. From the moment George picked us up at the airport until the day he dropped us off there again, it was all perfectly well organized.

Excellent guide, tracking animals while driving and very knowledgeable about anything in Tanzania and safari; you realise it overhearing people in other cars when they don’t know why a lion has a collar. Their driver didn’t tell them it’s for tracking and research. We were lucky to see all the wild animals we were hoping to spot (cheetah and leopards not only in trees or bushes but hunting, a rhino, plenty of lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras...).
