- AGAlice· December 24th, 2024The tour was amazing, we get to experience the best of Bhutan (festival, nature, temples, culture, and food) and our tour guide and driver made the trip even more wonderful with their care and knowledge. The arrangement of the trip was perfect, we had sufficient time at each spot to fully enjoy and we still feel like we have a really fulfilling itinerary with the amount of places we get to visit. All the hotels, and even the home stay, are cozy, comfortable, and with great hospitality and very good food. 10/10 would recommend to book this tour, and winter (though low season) is a really good time to visit!Show moreTrip date: December 2024

- KK&M· December 6th, 2024Incredible experience!! I can't say enough good things about our trip to Bhutan thanks to Bhutan Acorn Tours. From start to finish, we were incredibly well taken care of by the owner Karma, our guide Norbu, and our driver Gyeltshen. They were communicative, knowledgeable, organized, welcoming, and kind. - Pia· November 24th, 2024I had an incredible experience traveling through Bhutan with Bhutan Acorn Tours. Karma was exceptionally responsive, accommodating my requests to customize the itinerary, hotels, and meals before my arrival. Everything went smoothly and exactly as planned once I got there. The highlight of the tour was connecting with my guide, Kezang, and her sister, Tashi, who was also my driver. They were both so kind and dedicated, working hard to create a truly memorable experience. Their warmth and effort solidified my belief that Bhutan is a place I’ll return to again and again. Forever grateful.Show moreTrip date: November 2024

- Maja· July 30th, 2024I’ve just completed this tour and it is amazing. First the accommodation was great and being off season I had few privileges (great views in all the hotel I’ve stayed), no other tourists or waiting times or crowded around. If you are lucky to get Nidu and Norbu for your tour you are in for a treat and unforgettable time Second, the nature is just breathtaking and the temples are just as mesmerising. Grated you have to hike to get to some of them but it’s worth every drop of sweat. Lastly the people in Bhutan are so welcoming and friendly. The hospitality is on another level. If you think visiting Bhutan, just do it you won’t regret it.Show moreBhutan Acorn Tours & Travel commented on this reviewDear Maja, I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay! - MBMark· April 2nd, 2024We just completed an 8 day tour of western Bhutan, with a 3 day trek to the Sagala Pass and Chelela Pass. Bhutan is a beautiful country and exceeded all my expectations. Bhutan Acorn T&T were fantastic! In the planning stage they were very responsive and understanding of our several requests for change to the itinerary. They were very organised and efficient in arranging the visas, government fees and flights to Bhutan. Our guide (Norbu) and driver (Thinley) were also fantastic and went above and beyond in looking after us. They were both very kind and helpful and their knowledge of Bhutanese history, Buddhist practice and local flora and fauna were exceptional. I would not hesitate in using Bhutan Acorn T&T again.Show moreBhutan Acorn Tours & Travel commented on this reviewDear Mark, I am glad you enjoyed your trip to Bhutan. - RERoger· March 25th, 2024Firstly, just to clarify, I came to Bhutan mainly to see the great outdoors, the architecture and to get a feel of it's history. I had no great interest in the spiritual, mystical, religious or cultural aspects of the country, including it's art and crafts. I certainly had no interest in shopping or souvenirs. Due to the above I skipped most of the items in the tour related to arts, crafts and shopping so cannot comment on them. I booked a group tour and paid a single supplement only to find on arrival that I was the only person on the tour. The company communicated very well and was quick and responsive to my queries. When you compare Bhutan trips on Tour Radar be sure to note if the tour includes entrance fees and the US$100 charge to endure you compare like with like when looking at the cost. This tour didn't include the fees but was still very competitive in pricing. The tour was well run and the guide Tashi Sonam and the driver Tandin were terrific. I must mention that I was very unimpressed with the fact that I could not do the Dochula to Lumitsawa hike that was included in the itinerary as according to Tashi the track is currently unusable. If this is the case then do not put it as an option in the itinerary - it's false advertising. This hike was actually one of the reasons I chose this trip. The hotels were of a good standard with comfortable facilities but all were located well out of town centres so at night there wasn't much option but to sit and read or watch streamed TV. The idea was to avoid noise which was laudable, except for the fact that the biggest noise pollution in Bhutan is barking dogs at night and they were a problem at every hotel. One hotel in particular the Dewachen Hotel was an absolute nightmare with supposedly stray dogs living on the property and barking incredibly loudly directly outside my bedroom window from 9 PM until dawn. I have industrial strength earplugs but level of noise and it's proximity defeated them. I was a wreck the next day and the hotel manager refused to take any responsibility or do anything about the problem. I managed to get food poisoning on the last day so never got to climb to the Tigers Nest but ended up spending a large part of the day in hospital. It was at this stage that the guide and driver, Tashi and Tandin came to the fore. They took me to the hospital and then stayed with me for the rest of the day until I was safe and sound back at the hotel. Absolutely great service guys! My overall impression of Bhutan was that while the scenery, hikes, walks and sites are interesting and pleasant they didn't really grab me in any great way like other countries in the region such as Nepal did. The problem of course is that given the above, when you take into account the huge daily fees and expensive airfares charged by the government then that erodes the value for money equation to such an extent that I wouldn't go back.Show moreBhutan Acorn Tours & Travel commented on this reviewDear Roger, First and foremost, we want to express our sincere gratitude for choosing TourRadar and Bhutan Acorn Tours & Travel to organize your recent trip to Bhutan. - YYT· March 22nd, 2024I enjoyed the trip a lot. My guide Tshering Dema and driver Nidup Wangchuk were really friendly and inspiring. I learned a lot from them, not only the culture of Bhutan but also about life. They were knowledgeable and were there for me to ensure that I was comfortable throughout the trip. Not to mention about the breathtaking views in Bhutan and the lovely people I met there. Bhutanese are warm and friendly and I love to meet people from all walks of life. - Robert· March 18th, 2024What an incredible tour of an even more incredible country. Peaceful, restful, relaxing, beautiful are just some of the qualities of both. The history and culture are equally amazing. It is hard to write a review of this experience without sounding like an exaggeration. Bhutan is truly worth the time and effort to visit, and Bhutan Acorn Tours & Travel is an exceptional agency with which to experience it. Accommodations were first rate. The people of the country are unbelievably friendly and accommodating. From the beginning to the end of my initial contact with Acorn I felt the commitment to ensure my every concern was accommodated. Mr. Karma quickly and efficiently secured my visa, flight reservations and travel arrangements with ease and consideration for my individual circumstances. It is hard to put into words the comfort I felt dealing with him. Reliability is only one of them. On the ground, Mr. Norbu, my guide, and Mr. Nidup, my driver, ensured that I experienced and understood all that I saw. Patience and desire to ensure my trip was enjoyable, educational, and inspiring was clearly their primary goals. Mr. Norbu never tired of my questions even when asked over and over. It was like traveling with two knowledgeable friends. When was the last time you sat watching an archery competition (Bhutan archery is unique) or played a few games of snooker with your driver and guide? I cannot recommend this tour more strongly.Show moreBhutan Acorn Tours & Travel commented on this reviewDear Robert, I am so glad you enjoyed your stay in Bhutan! Asked on May 17th, 2025Is it possible to get flights from JFK (or any area New York City airport) to Paro and back for a June 9 - June 17th tour? If the tour begins on June 9th, should we book a flight that arrives by June 8th or June 9th? If the tour is completed on June 17th, should we book a flight out of Paro for June 17th or June 18th?
- Bhutan Acorn Tours & TravelOperator•Written May 2025
You must arrive in Bhutan on the tour start date and depart on the tour end date. This is because the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of US$100 per night per person is charged based on the exact number of nights spent in Bhutan.

Traveler•Written May 2025Is the day the flight lands in Paro considered Day 1? Do we have at least one night stay in Paro before the tour leaves on Day 2? What if a flight arrives at 2:00 pm on Day 1 but the tour leaves at 11:00 am? Are there any flights available flying into Paro? They book up in advance.
- Bhutan Acorn Tours & TravelOperator•Written May 2025
You will not miss any sightseeing even if you arrive at 2 PM or 3 PM because we will adjust the itinerary and make sure that all the activities are covered. There are no direct flights from the USA to Paro. Only 2 airlines connect Paro to gateway cities like Delhi, Kathmandu, Bangkok, Singapore and Dubai. The flights from Singapore and Dubai to Paro are operated only twice weekly.

The Bhutanese currency is known as Ngultrum/Nu. You may bring USD and have it exchanged to local currency at the airport or outside the airport. Our guide can help you get it exchanged. You can also withdraw local currency from ATMs using your credit/debit cards but there will be a fee of Nu.300 for every transaction.
- Bhutan Acorn Tours & TravelOperator•Written January 2025
There is no roaming service for Verizon users in Bhutan. If your iPhone is unlocked, you can install tourist SIM card on arrival. You can also install tourist e-SIM card. For a tourist card with a validity of 1 month, 1 GB data and Nu.100 talktime, it will cost Nu.200. Our guide can help to topup more data if you require.
- Bhutan Acorn Tours & TravelOperator•Written January 2025
Usually, it takes 4-5 hours for a round-trip hike to Tiger's Nest for most visitors. Some take much longer and some take longer depending on their fitness level.
- Bhutan Acorn Tours & TravelOperator•Written January 2025
April is the peak season as so hotels and flights tend to get booked out well in advance. I recommend you check the flight availability and book it online.
- Bhutan Acorn Tours & TravelOperator•Written January 2025
The published price for a solo traveler is USD 1,625, with a 20% deposit required at the time of booking. The remaining 80% balance must be paid 60 days prior to the tour start date. The local payment of USD 600 is to be paid in cash upon arrival. This fee is known as the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF), sometimes called as the Government Fee. The fee is USD 100 per night per person, so for the duration of 6 nights, it is USD 600 per person.
