Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Bucharest
You'll arrive in Bucharest and take a private transfer to your hotel. This is your time to shake off the jetlag and get settled in. Take it easy, rest up, and get your bearings before your activities start.

- Day 2
Bucharest to Horezu
After breakfast, you'll drive through countryside to Olari for a pottery workshop with a local artisan. Then you'll head to Horezu Monastery, a 500-year-old UNESCO site, for lunch. Later in the afternoon, you'll check out restored 'cule' homes in Oltenia. By evening you'll sleep in a restored manor house.

Horezu to Tg Jiu
You'll explore one of Romania's most imposing river valleys on the Transfagarasan, the country's highest paved road. The day gives you options for adventure activities like paragliding, rafting, canyoning, cave exploring, or slackline hammocking. Pick what appeals to you most.

Tg Jiu to Danube
You'll travel to the Danube River to see ancient Roman ruins, a relocated ghost island, and a monastery built over a lighthouse. The highlight is a chartered boat tour to the rock sculpture of Decebalus. You can also explore hidden caves and hike Ciucaru mountains if you'd like.

Danube to Nera Gorge
You'll head to Nera Gorge nature reserve, Romania's wildest and longest gorge. There you'll find surreal springs, lakes, canyons, caves, tunnels and waterfalls. You can travel by hiking, kayaking, rafting or biking, with a picnic break included. You'll spend the night in a rustic forest cabin.

Landmarks/POIs Nera Gorge - Day 6
Nera Gorge to Hunedoara
You'll ride a century-old style train with wooden seats and open windows on a 19th century coal transportation railway. The route passes through viaducts and tunnels. After that, you'll visit Densus, Romania's oldest church. You'll stay overnight in a country house with an old-world feel.

- Day 7
Hunedoara
You'll explore Dacian and Roman connections by visiting Ulpia Traiana Sarmizegetusa, the former Roman Dacia capital, and comparing it to Sarmisegetuza Regia, independent Dacia's capital. Then you'll see Corvin's Castle, Romania's largest medieval castle with Renaissance-Gothic features and historical legends tied to Vlad the Impaler.

Hunedoara to Rosia Montana
You'll visit Rosia Montana, formerly Alburnus Maior, a former Roman mining town with complicated history. You can tour goldmine galleries, see local crafted workshops, and learn about its UNESCO World Heritage nomination and sustainable tourism efforts. You'll have a surprise overnight stay lined up.

Rosia Montana to Sibiu
You'll check out Turda Salt Mine with its recreational facilities for an energizing experience. Then you'll head to Sibiu for a walking tour of medieval squares, fortifications, churches, German buildings, towers and bastions. Sibiu is a cultural hub that was named European Capital of Culture in 2007.

- Day 10
Sibiu to Bucharest
You'll drive back to Bucharest on the Transfagarasan highway, a famous mountain route. It cuts through mountains and ends at Vidraru Dam, which borders Romania's largest lake. In the evening, you can take an optional walking tour of Bucharest's Old Town if you're up for it.

Bucharest Wine Road & Therme Spa
You'll travel to the Romanian wine road to visit two vineyards and sample wines while talking with the owners. At one estate, you'll do a private wine blending workshop. In the afternoon, you'll relax at Therme, Eastern Europe's largest natural spa center, with indoor and outdoor pools, beach area, saunas, and bars.
