Itinerary
- Day 1
Cusco to Machu Picchu
Your pickup happens around 5:00am from your Cusco hotel for the drive to Ollantaytambo train station. After boarding the train to Km 104, you'll start hiking the Inca Trail with Chachabamba ruins as your first stop. The trail climbs through mountain scenery, and by midday you'll reach Wiñay Wayna archaeological site where lunch comes with Sacred Valley views. From there, the path flattens out to the Sun Gate, giving you that first look at Machu Picchu before descending to explore the ruins themselves. By evening you'll take the bus down to Aguas Calientes for the night.

Machu Picchu to Cusco
Start with breakfast at your hotel, then catch the bus heading to Machu Picchu so you arrive by 6am for sunrise. A 2-hour guided walking tour takes you through the site, and if you've booked the optional Huayna Picchu hike it starts at 10am, otherwise you'll wander around at your own pace. After exploring, you'll bus back to Aguas Calientes and board the Expedition train to Ollantaytambo, then a private van carries you back to Cusco. When you arrive depends on which train time you booked.
