- Day 1
Paro to Thimpu
Your flight into Paro brings you over mountain landscapes that set the tone for what's ahead. A representative meets you at the airport and drives you to Thimpu, the capital, giving you time to settle in and rest after traveling.
Landmarks/POIs Paro Airport - Day 2
Thimpu
After breakfast, you'll head out on a guided tour of Thimpu starting with Tashichhodzong fortress, which houses government offices and the king's throne room. From there, you'll check out the National Library to see its manuscript collection, then stop by the Arts & Crafts School and Handicrafts Emporium. The Memorial Chorten, built to honor Bhutan's third king, comes next. You'll wrap up the evening with dinner at your hotel.

Thimpu to Punakha to Thimpu
The drive to Punakha takes you through Dochula Pass at 3,080m, where you'll see mani walls, chortens, and prayer flags. On clear days, you can spot peaks like Gangkar Puensum at 7,570m. Once in Punakha, you'll see the fortress built in 1637, which played a key role in Bhutan's history. Before heading back to Thimpu, you'll explore Wangduephodrang, known for its slate, bamboo products, and stone carving work.

Thimpu to Paro
After breakfast, you'll drive back to Paro, less than an hour away. The main event is hiking to Tiger's Nest Monastery, which clings to a 1,000m cliff. The trek starts near Satsam at 2,650m and climbs steeply to the Cafeteria at 2,940m (just over an hour). Ponies can take you to the Cafeteria, but you'll hike the rest on foot. After lunch at the tea house, you'll visit a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse and explore Paro valley and town.

Paro Departure
