Asked on August 8th, 2024What is the best time of year for this tour? I am 60 and a pretty novice hiker and not very active, however, I do plan on training for this hike prior to booking trip as my dream is to see Mt Everest in this lifetime. What can I expect in regard to how the climate and altitude would affect me? Mentally I can accept the challenge I'm setting for myself, but what about the physical affects? Any suggestions would be welcomed.

May is widely considered the best time to embark on this adventure. During this period, the weather is generally stable with sunny and clear days, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest. This trek reaches an altitude of up to 3,800 meters, it is relatively low altitude compared to some other Himalayan treks. While altitude can affect each person differently, it is less likely to cause severe issues on this route, especially with proper acclimatization. The climate and altitude can affect your body, primarily through increased exertion and lower oxygen levels as you climb. Some common effects include shortness of breath, fatigue, and possibly mild altitude sickness. However, with proper acclimatization days built into the trek and your mental determination, you should be able to handle these challenges.
