Itinerary
- Day 1
Beijing
After landing in Beijing, you'll be picked up and taken to your hotel. This is a settle-in day so you can rest from traveling and get acclimated to the time zone.

Beijing
Start with a trip out to Mutianyu Section of the Great Wall, where you can walk the wall and take in the views. Back in the city by afternoon, you'll head over to the Summer Palace to see the imperial grounds and gardens.

Beijing to Xi'an
Morning takes you to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City to see these central Beijing landmarks. After that, you'll head to Beijing South Railway Station and board a 6-hour bullet train to Xi'an, arriving by evening to settle at your hotel.

Xi'an
An hour's drive from the city brings you to the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum, a major Silk Road site with thousands of clay figures. Later in the afternoon, you'll explore the Old City Wall on foot and then walk through the Muslim Quarter with its shops and food stalls.

Xi'an to Dunhuang
Catch an early flight to Dunhuang and get settled at your hotel. In the afternoon, you'll see the Singing Sand Dunes and Crescent Spring out in the desert landscape. By evening, head into the night market to walk around and try local food and goods.

Dunhuang to Turpan
Visit the Mogao Caves in the morning, where you can see colorful Buddhist frescoes and statues carved into the rock faces. After that, head to Liuyuan railway station and take a 4-hour bullet train to Turpan, getting to your hotel later that evening.

Turpan
Today covers several Silk Road locations around the region. You'll check out the Bezklik Grottos, walk through the Ancient City of Jiaohe ruins, see the Gaochang ruins, learn how the Karez Irrigation System works, and visit the Emin Minaret mosque.

Urumqi to Kashgar
