Dublin to Westport
You'll board a train from Heuston Station in Dublin at 1:10 pm and travel through Ireland's green midlands to Westport in County Mayo. The journey takes you through rolling countryside before your driver meets you at the station and takes you to your accommodation. Once you're settled, the evening is yours to explore Westport's food scene, catch some traditional music at a local pub, or just take a walk around town to get your bearings.

Westport
This is your free day in Westport, so you can do as much or as little as you like. Croagh Patrick, Ireland's holiest mountain, sits nearby if you're up for a hike, and Clew Bay with its 365 islands offers beautiful views and walking paths. The town itself has historical sites worth checking out, and the traditional music scene here is lively, especially in the evenings at the local pubs.

Westport to Donegal Town
You'll head north from Westport along Mayo's wild coastline toward Donegal Town. First stop is Downpatrick Head where you can see a dramatic blowhole, old church ruins, a stone cross, and the sea-stack of Dún Briste rising from the water. After that, you'll grab lunch in Ballina before continuing north through Bundoran, where you can wade into the Atlantic or watch surfers if the conditions are good. You'll arrive in Donegal Town by evening and have time for dinner and traditional music.

Donegal Town to Ballyliffin
From Donegal, you're heading north through some wild landscapes toward Ballyliffin. Along the way, you'll see Slieve League cliffs reaching 601 metres high, which makes them nearly three times taller than the Cliffs of Moher but way less crowded. Continue around Donegal's dramatic northern edge to Glenveagh National Park and Castle, where you can walk through 16,500 hectares of lakes, glens, and woodlands with red deer herds roaming around, plus a 19th-century castle. You'll finish the day in Ballyliffin with time to relax.

Ballyliffin to Portrush
This morning you're heading to Malin Head, Ireland's most northerly point and sunniest spot, with impressive coastal views stretching out in all directions. From there, you'll head to the Giant's Causeway, a UNESCO site with about 40,000 hexagonal basalt columns created from volcanic activity 60 million years ago. There's also a local legend about two giants and a bridge if you're interested in the folklore. You'll end up in Portrush by evening, a vibrant seaside town known for its surfing scene, good food, and dramatic coastline.

After lunch, you'll head south toward Dublin for your final evening. In Dublin, you can explore historical sites, take another hop-on hop-off tour, or just walk the streets, check out the neighborhoods, and eat well. This wraps up your Irish trip.
