  My husband and I booked the Golden Triangle of India With 4 Star Hotels - A Group Tour. As others have pointed out it says group, but you do not know if it will be a group or just yourselves until the tour starts. It was just the two of us on this tour. Our driver Raj was AMAZING! The driving in India can be panic-inducing for Westerners, but Raj kept us safe the entire time. He was very considerate, we always had cold water, he opened our doors, helped with our bags, stopped when we needed to, and even got us beers for the road. The itinerary was very clear, but we were not clear about pick-up times. It turned out those would be determined each day by either Raj or our tour guide for the day. Fine, just a bit confusing at first. Overall we were pleased with our hotels and felt that they reflected the 4 star description. Our first tour guide was only starting to give tours in English, he was fluent in French, so our first day in Dehli was a bit challenging, but we made it through. Vinny, our guide in Jaipur was our favorite and one of the best guides we have had anywhere in the world. Just a note - each guide will try to take you somewhere to see how things are made, this is of course in hopes that you will buy something. We agreed to go to the textile shop (and spent way too much money) so when the next place was going to be a jewelry factory, we said no thank you, and were very clear we would be buying nothing, so we skipped it. Feel free to be blunt about going to these types of places. Of course, you can always go and buy nothing. Overall, we were very pleased with this tour and the itinerary.

  Booked into a group tour for the social experience, but then I ended up being the only person in the tour which was disappointing and not communicated by tour organisers at all until I met the first guide. The days were lively but not overwhelming, good amount of activities. Historical locations chosen were fascinating, though everything required a separate entrance fee beyond the tour cost so factor that into your decision. Hotels were very comfortable, good experience here. Guides were professional, friendly and knowledgeable, noting that it is a different guide for every city. Personally, I would've preferred one consistent guide throughout as they have more context of what you have seen/know (reduces repetition). I did find I was taken to a lot of handicraft stores, and when I asked one guide whether I could visit another historical site instead (nobody else on the tour), he rejected my request. Tour guides did admittedly say there was no pressure to buy, though some sellers take you through multiple sections and keep trying to get you to buy stuff. In general, I would've preferred more free time to roam areas at my own pace without a guide. The driver Vimal was very friendly and cared a lot about my preferences, was very flexible. Overall, I would consider booking with MTA again but only if I know it is actually a group tour.

  We had an amazing time with the MTA team on our 15 day tour. The backend team did a fantastic job with excellent cooperation with the local guides and drivers. The local guides were very knowledgeable and shared additional details based on our topics of interest. The drivers were very safe and cautious not just when driving, but also about the choice of stops for breaks during the journey. The guides and drivers were very kind and accomplished our additional requests. Mr Manish was very supportive and available for questions and help through the entire process and the trip. The entire crew went above and beyond to make it a memorable trip for us. We highly recommend the MTA team and look forward to having more trips with them in future.

  I did the Golden triangle tour including Varanasi in late December and had an absolute blast! My driver was Narender, he picked me up at the airport in Delhi and stayed with me until I left Agra where he (thankfully) made sure I got on the correct carriage for my overnight train. He was very easygoing and I felt very safe with him and was amazed by his ability to negotiate the crazy streets in Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. I had different guides over the days, Shoo, Sherma, Khan, BJ, Hermant...I did find them a bit intense and some of their accents difficult to understand but it was good to have them with me as I was totally wrecked for the first few days and I'm not sure I could have negotiated the cities and sites without them. The constant entry fees were a bit annoying as I thought these were included in the trip (esp two separate fees at a mosque, one for a cloak to cover me despite wearing long sleeved clothing and another for someone to mind my shoes) I had asked could I just carry them and why it was necessary to wear the cloak and was just told it was obligatory but when inside I noticed lots of locals and travellers without the cloak and carrying their shoes. This kind of thing appears to be normal in India but I had hoped to escape it whilst on the tour and with the guides! 🤷🙄 I highly recommend Khan as he was very good and stood out above them all actually answering questions as opposed to talking at me. The accommodation was fine and improved as the trip progressed. The food was amazing and the restaurants that I was brought to were a great standard. Varanasi was a truly unique experience and the main reason I booked this tour specifically. I would recommend this tour if only so that you can relax and enjoy your trip and not have to worry about transport and connections or spending hours on Google searching for restaurants that won't make you sick and then figuring out how to get there, then where you'll stay and what sights to fit in and how to navigate the cities etc then do it all over again the next day!
