Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Girona

You'll arrive in Girona and have the afternoon to wander through the medieval centre on your own. The old town is compact and easy to navigate, with narrow streets connecting historic plazas and the cathedral. Grab lunch somewhere in the center and take time to walk along the city walls if you're up for it. By evening you'll have a good feel for the layout before heading out on your bike tomorrow.

  2. Day 2

    Girona to Coast

This morning you'll cycle the Carrilet route, a converted railway line that heads from Girona toward the coast. The 40km ride follows the old train path, which means it's relatively flat and straightforward to follow. You'll pass through small towns and farmland along the way. Pack water and snacks since there aren't many services in the middle sections. After reaching the coast, you'll have time to settle into your accommodation and grab dinner by the water.

  3. Day 3

    Coast to Llafranc

Today's 30km ride takes you through coastal terrain with forests of pine and cork trees. You'll cycle through fields and natural landscape, heading toward Llafranc. The route is scenic but rolling in places, so pace yourself accordingly. Stop for a swim or coffee break during lunch, and then continue to your destination. Once you arrive in Llafranc, you'll have the rest of the afternoon to relax on the beach or explore the small village.

  4. Day 4

    Coastal Bays

You'll spend the day cycling a scenic 30km loop through three coastal bays: Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc, and Tamariu. The route connects these charming seaside spots, and you can stop for swimming or lunch at any of them. Each bay has its own character, from sandy beaches to rocky coves. The cycling itself is moderate in difficulty, and you'll have plenty of opportunities to take breaks and enjoy the Mediterranean views.

  5. Day 5

    Baix Emporda Medieval Villages

This morning you'll head inland to explore medieval villages scattered through the Baix Emporda region. Your 40km route passes through charming old towns with stone buildings and quiet streets. The terrain varies with some gentle hills, but nothing too demanding. Stop in one of the villages for lunch and coffee, then continue cycling through the countryside. You'll see why this area is popular for cycling, with its mix of culture and natural landscape.

    Baix Emporda Cycle Network

You'll continue cycling through the Baix Emporda using the local cycle network for another 40km. This route connects more medieval villages and winds through olive groves and cork forests. The day is similar to yesterday's ride in terms of difficulty and scenery, giving you a chance to see different corners of the region. Later in the afternoon you'll head back toward your base, finishing with plenty of daylight left to rest before tomorrow's final ride.

  7. Day 7

    Monells to Girona

Your final day involves cycling back to Girona from Monells. You have the option to tackle the Els Angels mountain pass, which is one of the area's classic cycling routes if you're feeling strong. The pass offers great views but involves some climbing, so it's really your call based on how you're feeling. Otherwise, you can take a quieter route back to the city. After arriving in Girona, you'll have time to explore again before heading home or catching your departure transport.
