Itinerary
- Day 1
Taipei to Kenting
You'll kick off your Taiwan trip with a high-speed train ride down the west coast to Kenting, this laid-back beach town at the island's southern tip. Once you're settled at your hotel, the rest of the day is yours to use however you like. Jump in the water for a swim, go hiking through the area, rent a bike and ride around, or just chill on the beach. By evening, head over to Kenting Street where you can grab drinks and dinner, or try out a traditional massage if you want to unwind.

- Day 2
Kenting
After breakfast at the hotel, you'll get to know the quieter parts of this region with some leisure hiking around Hsuhai and nice views of Mudan Bay. From there, drive down to the Southern Tip of Taiwan to see the southernmost point, then take the scenic coastal route back to Kenting. The landscape here is pretty flat and you'll catch glimpses of aboriginal culture along the way. Another night in Kenting gives you time to explore more of the beach town.

Kenting to Kaohsiung
Catch one last morning swim before checkout, then drive north to Hengchun to see one of the last remaining Qing-era city walls still standing in Taiwan. Stop for lunch, then continue to Kaohsiung where you'll head to Lotus Pond to see the temples and the iconic Dragon and Tiger Pagodas. Later, you get to make traditional Taiwan cookies yourself as part of the experience. If you're up for it, there's an optional night walk at Pier-2 Art Center to wrap things up.

Kaohsiung to Tainan
You'll have breakfast and then travel to Fo Guang Shan Monastery where you can walk around eight pagodas and check out the grand meditation halls, all beneath a 108-meter-high Buddha statue. After that, head to Tainan, Taiwan's ancient capital, and spend time wandering through historic sites and narrow alleyways. Visit Taiwan's oldest Confucian Temple and Wu Garden nearby. Since Tainan's got a serious food scene, plan to try some of the local dishes the city's known for.

Tainan to Taipei
After breakfast, you'll head to Anping district in Tainan where the Dutch colonial-era castle and fortress sit along the waterfront. Stop by an ancient banyan tree house, then drive to Guanziling for a soak in the unique mud springs there. The day wraps up with a high-speed rail trip back to Taipei, bringing your Taiwan journey full circle.
