Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Paro to Thimphu
You'll arrive in Paro and clear immigration, where your guide and driver will be waiting. The drive to Thimphu takes you through countryside with traditional Bhutanese architecture scattered along the way. Before heading to your hotel, you'll stop at Tachog Lhakhang, a sacred temple in the Paro Valley. Once you reach Thimphu and check in, there's time to see the large Buddha statue at Kuenselphodrang or the Simply Bhutan Museum if you're not too tired from travel.

Sangaygang Hike in Thimphu
After breakfast, you'll head to Sangaygang where the hike begins near the BBS tower with colorful prayer flags. The trail goes through oak, blue pine, and rhododendron forests as it climbs, giving you views of Thimphu city below. You'll pass farmhouses and apple orchards on the way down. The return journey includes stops at the Royal Takin Preserve, Zulikha Nunnery, 13 Arts School, and Royal Textile Academy, so you'll see quite a bit in one day.

Geynekha to Gur Village Trek
Starting from Geynekha village, you'll walk through terraced fields and conifer forests filled with alpine plants and bird sounds. After crossing a river, there's a two-hour climb up to a rock platform with valley views. From there, it's another two hours of trekking to reach Gur village at 3,290m/10,793ft. You'll camp here for the night, surrounded by wildflowers and the mountain air.

Gur to Utsho Tsho Trek
The trek follows ridges through wild mountain vegetation. You'll reach a mountain pass with a cairn that offers views of Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan peaks. After that, you'll descend past yak herder camps through Labatama Valley to Utsho Tsho lake at 4,300m/14,108ft, where golden trout live in clear water.

Explore Lakes in Labatama Valley
You'll spend the day at one of four nearby lakes: Relitsho, Hentsho, Setsho, or Jagetsho. Each has trout and your guide will share local stories and legends about the area. Lunch happens by the lake with time to take in the surroundings. You'll head back to camp in the late afternoon to rest before dinner.

Dalatsho Trail Himalayan Trek
This day involves trekking up the western side of Dalatsho, gaining 269m and losing 520m to reach a camp at 4,000m/13,123ft. You'll continue to a saddle at 4,520m/14,829ft with Himalayan views including Mount Everest and Kanchenjunga. If you want to go higher, there's an optional peak at 4,720m/15,486ft. From there, you'll descend past yak herder huts through the Docha Chu river valley to finish at Pankha camp.

Chamgang Trek to Paro
You'll start early and cross several mountain passes where you might see the rare Blue Poppy (blooms June-July) and mountain birds. After the final ridge, you'll descend to the main Junction Pass and walk through small ridges before a steep downhill into Chamgang village. Then it's about 1 hour 20 minutes by vehicle to Paro, where you'll check in, freshen up, and visit Kyichu Lhakhang temple and the Paro town area.

Taktsang Monastery (Tigers Nest) Hike in Paro
You'll hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tigers Nest), which sits 3,000 feet above the Paro valley. This monastery is central to Bhutanese Buddhism and marks where Guru Rinpoche meditated and hid treasures. The hike itself is considered spiritually meaningful in Buddhist tradition. After reaching the monastery, you'll head down and have dinner at a local farmhouse, enjoying traditional Bhutanese food.

Departure from Paro
