Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu

    You'll land at Kathmandu International Airport where someone from the tour company meets you and drives you to your hotel. After checking in, the rest of the day is open for you to get settled and wander around the city on your own schedule.

  2. Day 2

    Kathmandu

    Following breakfast, there's an orientation meeting to go over the trip details. Then you'll head out on a half-day guided tour through Kathmandu Valley, seeing Kathmandu Durbar Square with its traditional Newari architecture, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple along the Bagmati River. You'll have time to pick up last-minute items before heading to a welcome dinner in the evening.

  3. Day 3

    Kathmandu to Syabrubesi

    After breakfast and another orientation session, you'll drive 132km northeast from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, where the trekking starts. The drive takes you from the city toward the foothills of the Himalayas with scenic views along the way.

  4. Day 4

    Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (Changtang)

    Your trek heads north from Syabrubesi, crossing a suspension bridge over the Bhote Koshi River and checking out the old monastery. You'll cross the Langtang Khola River and pass Doman Waterfall before the trail climbs through forests. Watch for red pandas, langur monkeys, and birds throughout the day. After crossing some steep terrain and landslides, you reach Lama Hotel (Changtang) for the night around 2,480m elevation.

  5. Day 5

    Lama Hotel to Langtang

    The trek climbs steeply through hemlock, oak, and maple forests with colorful rhododendrons covering the hillside. You'll pass Gumanchok and reach a pass decorated with prayer flags, then continue to Ghora Tabela where there's a Nepal Army post. The landscape opens into a U-shaped glacial valley as the trail widens through yak pastures and rhododendron areas. You'll reach Thangshyap, then climb to Ghumba Village with its small monastery before arriving at Langtang, where you can see Langtang II and waterfalls in the distance.

  6. Day 6

    Langtang to Kyanjin Gompa

    Walking from Langtang, you'll climb a ridge topped with a large chorten (a Buddhist monument), then pass a mani wall and through Mundu village. The path follows the rushing river past a yak wool shop and yak pastures at Yamphu. After climbing a moraine, you get your first views of Kyanjin Gompa and the icefall from Langtang Lirung and Kimshung peaks. At Kyanjin Gompa you'll have time to adjust to the altitude and explore, including the Nyingmapa school monastery.

  7. Day 7

    Tsergo Ri - Kyanjin Gompa

    This is a challenging five-hour hike from Kyanjin Gompa to Tsergo Ri, a cone-shaped viewpoint. The eastern trail heads toward Langshisha Kharka, crosses a stream, then turns left at a marker to climb steeply upward in switchbacks. The path passes herders' stone huts at Yala Kharka before reaching the prayer flags at the summit, where panoramic mountain views reward the effort. You'll trek back down to Kyanjin Gompa to sleep.

  8. Day 8

    Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel

    You'll head back down to Lama Hotel, retracing the path from the previous day. The route takes you back through the same forests, past waterfalls and river crossings you saw earlier in the trek.

  9. Day 9

    Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi

    The trek descends from Lama Hotel back to Syabrubesi, following the same route from Day 4. You'll go through forests, past waterfalls and river crossings, returning to where your trekking adventure began.

  10. Day 10

    Syabrubesi to Kathmandu

    You'll ride back to Kathmandu from Syabrubesi, taking most of the day to drive. Once there, you have free time to shop for souvenirs and gifts. That evening there's a farewell dinner where you'll go through photos and talk about the trek with your guide and other travelers.

    Kathmandu

  • Payment information
    • For any tour departing before January 8th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after January 8th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Alpine Club of Himalaya. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 65 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
