- SSandra· November 29th, 2024What a fantastic trip! At the moment, Westerners can only explore Tibet with a tour guide, and so I would heartily recommend you go with this tour company - everything was very well organised, right from the booking process to the tour itself, which covered everything we wanted to see. Our guide Kal Dor was exceptional - friendly & fun while still being professional and well organised, and very informative without ever being boring. We really couldn’t have hoped for a better guide. The driver too, was fantastic - we felt very safe on the twisty, switchback roads over the mountains and high passes. The minibus was clean, comfortable and water & oxygen were supplied.Show moreTrip date: November 2024
- Michelle· February 1st, 2022Obtaining the permit for the trip was very last minute. I got the permit through TibetVista the day before the actual tour date. Since the permit was granted so last minute, it would not be delivered to me in time. I had to have it delivered to me in Chengdu and stay overnight in a hotel and have the permit delivered to me there. Here is the first issue with TibetVista. The travel service agreement I signed stated that permit delivery within China mainland is included in the trip fees... however, they charged me 400RMB (~80CAD) to have it delivered to me in Chengdu. The representatives I spoke to about this fee even guilted me, saying they are just trying to make my dream to go to Tibet a reality and I shouldn't ask for the 400RMB delivery fee to be waived. The second problem with TibetVista is that the agent I was working with told me that there were no other travellers on the group tour that wanted to share a room and I would have to pay an extra 840RMB (~170CAD) as a single room supplement fee. This was in the contract that if there were no other travellers to share, you would have to pay. So that was okay. HOWEVER, upon talking to other travellers in the tour group, it turns out there were at least 4 other people (if not more) that were told the same thing... that there was no one else that wanted to share a room and we were all being charged the single room fee. The unexpected and unreasonable fees that TibetVista snuck into an already pricey tour is unacceptable. I would not recommend booking a tour to Tibet with this company. The only reason this is 2/5 rather than 1/5 for the experience is because Tibet is incredible and the tour guide Tashi was extremely knowledgeable and made visiting Tibet an unforgettable experience. To summarize, definitely go to Tibet because it is an amazing experience... but don't book with TibetVista because you'll be paying unexpected fees on top of an already pricey trip.Show moreTibet Vista commented on this reviewHi, dear guest. for the permit issue I am very sorry. we cannot control all the permit application are very punctual or to be done in advance, as the permission will be went through serval government departments, sometimes if one delay the issuance and... - CTCheng· June 18th, 2019Starting from the beginning, I was told by Tibet Vista agent, Leon, that they would be able to send my Tibet Visa to my hotel in Beijing as I was in transit there. I checked with Leon a month before the trip to ensure that the visa was all settled and Leon assured me that everything is going smoothly. However, just a day before my departure to Lhasa, Leon told me that the hotel did not accept the visa parcel. Leon was not apologetic at all and in his words: "Your hotel did not accept.", in which pushes the blame on me for booking a hotel that did not accept the visa parcel. As a reputable company such as Tibet Vista, having many customers for years, I would have been certain that they would check with the hotel beforehand that a visa parcel would be delivered to them. In the end, I had to pay extra USD$50 for Tibet Vista to send their staff to pass me the visa. This felt like it was all planned for. As for the trip, it was mediocre in terms of guide service. We were not told about what to prepare for, both in terms of weather and itinerary, as some of us had surprisingly different itineraries that were given to us. The guide explained about the place in-depth, but under the hot sun instead of moving us to any shade to do this. The guide did not tell that everyone was given a can of oxygen and thus, I only got mine at Mount Everest Base Camp itself! Thankfully, I did not have altitude sickness. We did not go to the cultural show or the tea house as planned in the itinerary. At Shigatse, I almost had to share a room with another solo traveller, both of us actually paid extra USD$150 for single room supplement. Thankfully, we were persistent in getting our own rooms, and were given single rooms after scuffling. At the Everest Base Camp, we were told by the tour guide that if we arrived first, we would be able to stay in the guesthouse instead of tents. However, we were put into the tents and another group that arrived much later got the guesthouse. I am not too sure because another of a fellow traveller in my group said that she paid extra supplement to get to stay in the guesthouse instead of the tents. The guide service was really basic and it sort of spoiled the rather pleasant trip.Show moreTrip date: June 2019

Asked on June 30th, 2024Would like to get a quote for two people for the selected tour. I'm HK National, I have HK passport and travel documents. I think I don't need the Tibet permit. My friend is Australian passport holder. We are planning to get to Tibet by train from Sining, just wondering if you can buy the train ticket, Sining to Lhasa, overnight train for us too.
- Tibet VistaOperator•Written July 2024
HK National people don't need Tibet permit for the trip, your friend needs but Australian passport holder are 15 days visa-free to China, that means we can get his/her Tibet permit here by only using his/her passport copy if the trip is within 15 days. We can help you get your train tickets Xining - Lhasa, it costs $175/person based on soft sleeper ticket with service fee included, it takes around 20 hours.

Traveler•Written July 2024For the train from Xining to Lhasa, we want the train leaving Xining at the evening, and arriving Lhasa the following day afternoon, we want to see the scenery during the day. Can you confirm that you can book for that train for us please?
- Tibet VistaOperator•Written July 2024
There are a few trains between Xining and Lhasa every day. I personally can't guarantee you to get the day train tickets, usually No problem to get the night train.

Traveler•Written July 2024Is it hard to get the train Z165 from Xining to Lhasa that departs at 1926pm? We really want to take this train.
- Tibet VistaOperator•Written July 2024
I always guarantee my customers that I'm 100% sure, I can only say: your train tickets Xining - Lhasa are guaranteed but which train we can get is Not guaranteed. Usually get the night train without problem, it's a little bit hard to get day train, but again your train tickets are guaranteeed.

Traveler•Written July 2024Would my tour cost be less because I'm a Hong Kong National and don't need a Tibet permit? Do you do air fare bookings too? We are planning to go to Nepal or Tashkent after Tibet, wondering if you can help to organize air fare from Lhasa to Tashkent or Lahsa to Kathmandu after the Tibet tour finishes.
- Tibet VistaOperator•Written July 2024
It's same cost for Chinese people even you don't need Tibet permit, because we didn't charge customers any cost on permit application. We can help customers book the flight ticket but only domestic flight, not international flight.

Asked on June 13th, 2024Can I have a single room and how much is the single room supplement? Can you also personalize this to include a train journey from Xining to Lhasa on Oct 26th?
- Tibet VistaOperator•Written June 2024
Single supplement is $170 based on 3-star hotel single room with a big bed except one night in guesthouse at Everest Base Camp(EBC). You can book this tour here directly and pay single supplement when you arrive in Lhasa. We can help you book the train ticket Xining - Lhasa for 26th Oct(arrive in Lhasa on 27th Oct), it takes around 20 hours and it costs $165/person based on soft sleeper ticket.

Traveler•Written June 2024Is there not a single room also at EBC? Do the hotels include daily breakfast? Is there an option to change to a 4-star hotel and how much is it? What is the maximum luggage size for bringing into the train? Can I book a lower-bunk bed on the soft sleeper? I am not young and I cannot climb up the upper bunk. Do you offer processing of visa for Tibet? After I process my Chinese visa, can I just send a photocopy for you to process the Tibet visa?
- Tibet VistaOperator•Written June 2024
We can arrange a single room for you at EBC but only in guesthouse without breakfast. All other 3-star and 4-star in Lhasa and Shigatse provided daily breakfast. Bring normal boot for clothes would be okay, no limited size. We will do our best to help you book the lower bed of train ticket but Not guaranteed, 70% of possibility can get the lower bed. Yes, only we can help you get your Tibet permit by using your passport and China visa copies usually one month before the tour starts. If you need to update the accommodations to 4-star hotel, single supplement would be $292.

Traveler•Written June 2024Alright Amy, so how much will this trip cost in total including these? 1. Train ticket for soft-sleeper lower bunk bed on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway (oct 26, 2024, late afternoon or night departure) 2. Single room at EBC tent or guesthouse (how is the toilet system here?) 3. Upgrade to 4-star hotel with single room supplement 4. 8-days tour by Tibet Vista starting on October 27, 2024. Can you please give me an example of hotel name of 3-star hotel and 4-star hotel so I can make a comparison and decide on which one I take?
- Tibet VistaOperator•Written June 2024
Total tour cost for 3-star hotel: $1059/group tour+$170/single supplement+$165/train ticket Xining-Lhasa=$1394. Total tour cost for 4-star hotel: $1184+$292/single supplement+$165/train ticket Xining-Lhasa=$1641. 3-star hotel we usually use Cang-gyan Hotel in Lhasa, Shiga Yangcha Grand Hotel in Shigatse, one night in guesthouse at EBC. 4-star hotel we usually use Tangka Hotel in Lhasa, Sheli Hotel in Shigatse, one night in guesthouse at EBC. Public toilet outside of your accommodation at EBC. Private western style toilet only in the 3-star and 4-star hotel.
- T
Tanya
Traveler•Written June 2024If I decide to book this with train + 4-star hotel upgrade + single room supplement + single room at EBC, how do I go about it? The tourradar website does not have options to choose from. Also, is this a guaranteed departure date and would it be safe to book airtickets already?
- T
Tanya
Traveler•Written June 2024I am sorry Amy, my mind cannot accept the condition of the toilets at EBC. I am okay with the toilet being outside but I am sure I will throw up if I see this condition. Even at high elevation, they should at least build decent and clean toilets if they want the tourists to come. People will not mind having to pay to use the toilets.

Asked on May 12th, 2024Are there any health precautions advised for the train journey to high altitudes?
- Tibet VistaOperator•Written May 2024
Yes, traveling by train to high altitudes, such as to Lhasa, is sometimes recommended as it allows your body to gradually adjust to higher elevations, potentially reducing the risk of altitude sickness.
