Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Whitehorse

    Your guide will meet you at Whitehorse airport and drive you downtown to your hotel. Spend the afternoon getting familiar with the city, going through your gear, and picking up any supplies you forgot or think you might need before heading out on the river.

  2. Days 2 - 7

    Yukon River Paddling

    Your canoe trip starts at Takhini Bridge where you'll paddle about 50km to Lake Laberge. Northern pike fishing is good here if you want to try your luck. From there, the route takes you through rocky shores and the historic Thirty Mile section, passing by where the Big Salmon and Little Salmon Rivers flow in. You'll see fireweed and black spruce forest along the way before reaching Carmacks by evening.

  3. Day 8

    Carmacks

    This is your rest day in Carmacks, which is the last real town before Dawson City. It's a good time to shower, do laundry, and replace anything you lost or forgot on the river. Stock up on any supplies you might want for the next section too.

  4. Days 9 - 16

    Yukon River to Dawson City

    Your guide will help you navigate through Five Finger and Rink Rapids early in the day. After that, the river gets quieter and you'll paddle into the northern section where high bluffs rise around you. You'll come across Fort Selkirk, an old trading post with restored buildings from the Selkirk First Nation heritage that's still standing there.

  5. Day 17

    Arrival in Dawson City

    After more than two weeks paddling, you arrive in Dawson City. This historic boomtown from the Klondike Gold Rush has false-fronted buildings and old homes from the turn of the century. You'll check into a downtown hotel for two nights and can start exploring right away if you have energy.

  6. Day 18

    Dawson City Exploration

    You have a full day to explore Dawson City. Head to Gold Bottom Mine for a placer mining tour where you can pan for gold yourself. Bonanza Creek and the restored Dredge #4 are optional if you're interested. Afternoon and evening are free to wander through historic sites like the Jack London and Robert Service cabins, the museum, or the Danoja Zho Cultural Centre. Drive up to Midnight Dome for views of the town and surrounding gold fields, then spend your evening at Diamond Tooth Gertie's Gambling Hall.

    Dawson City to Whitehorse

    Head back to Whitehorse by van on the Klondike Highway. You'll stop at a scenic overview of Five Finger Rapids along the way. After arriving back in Whitehorse, have a final dinner with the group and spend your last night in a comfortable hotel.
