What people love about touring Indonesia solo
- 7 Days Explore Bali - Nusa Penida and Spa Treatment
My tour guide was Muii. He was an excellent guide. Being a single female traveller, Muli was considerate in letting me know that he was waiting for me at the airport. Muli was capable and professional. He spoke English well and was always ready to help. I wanted to buy some local snacks and cakes, he went out of his way to drive me to these places and buy what I wanted. I really appreciated his help and kindness. He really cares about the customer's experience and provides the best services. If you are considering a tour in Bali, ask for Muli, you will not regret it. Thank you for a great trip Muli.
- 6 Days Unforgettable Bali Tour with Traditional Cooking Class
Do you want to see all that Bali has to offer and more? Get on board and do the 6 Days Unforgettable Bali Tour with Traditional Cooking Class. My partner and I absolutely loved this tour, we did all the things we wanted to really do and more. Top of my list temple-wise I had Tirta Empul Temple (water spring) and Tanah Lot (by the sea, my absolute favourite), and we did both. I also had a few things on my list such as Barong dance which is just so fun to watch, and visiting a rice field which we did. My partner's top of the list were Monkey Forest, which again is included and the Water Sport which we did on the last day. I was so very pleasantly surprised on how good the Samsara day was, and vey much enjoyed the cooking class (and the eating part too). Would definitely recommend, the tour guide was absolutely great, and since it wasn't busy on the week we went (Monsoon season), we had the pleasure of doing a private tour just for us :)
- 5 Days Bali Tour and Water Sport
All as expected, the driver was awsome, very responsible and friendly.
What our customers ask about Indonesia Tours for Solo Travelers
Which areas in Indonesia are most welcoming for solo travelers on guided tours?
Bali and Ubud stand out as ideal destinations for solo travelers thanks to their established tourism networks and friendly local communities. The Gili Islands draw social travelers to spots like Crystal Bay Beach and Angels Billabong. In Ubud the Sacred Monkey Forest and Tegalalang Rice Terraces serve as natural gathering spots where travelers often connect. Accommodations like The One Legian Hotel in Kuta put you right in the middle of social areas. A TourRadar traveler shares: "I went as a solo traveler and had a great time on all the tours especially the water sports. The guides made sure everyone felt included and comfortable."
What type of accommodation can solo travelers expect on Indonesia tours?
Places to stay range from standard hotels like The One Legian in Kuta to local guesthouses in Ubud. Travelers heading to Bukit Lawang often stay in eco-lodges while the Gili Islands feature beachfront bungalows. Most tour packages include 3-4 star hotels that offer basic amenities in convenient locations. A TourRadar traveler notes: "The accommodation at Serela Legian Hotel was simple but clean and well-located perfect for solo travelers wanting to explore the area."
What's the typical group size for Indonesia guided tours?
Most tours operate with 7-12 people which works well for scenic locations like Mount Rinjani or Tegalalang Rice Terraces in Bali. Tours through Ubud and the Gili Islands usually have 8-10 participants with TourRadar data showing about 60% are solo travelers. As shared by a TourRadar traveler: "There was a particularly fantastic group dynamic with solo travelers from different backgrounds making the wildlife trek in Gunung Leuser National Park even more memorable."
What's the typical cost difference for single travelers vs couples on Indonesia tours?
Single room supplements cost between USD 200-400 extra based on the hotel quality. Hotels in the Legian/Kuta area typically charge around USD 250 for private rooms. Many tours offer room-sharing options to avoid extra costs especially in places like Bukit Lawang or the Gili Islands. A TourRadar traveler reports: "I booked as a solo traveler and was charged an extra USD 200 but the quality of The Serela Legian Hotel and the overall experience made it worthwhile."
How easy is it to meet other travelers during Indonesia guided tours?
Group activities naturally bring people together whether it's white water rafting on the Ayung River or joining cooking classes in Ubud. Shared meals at Jimbaran Beach and group visits to spots like the Bali Swing help travelers connect. TourRadar shows that 53% of people book these tours solo which creates a friendly atmosphere. One traveler notes: "Our tour guide Ketut was amazing at bringing the group together especially during our temple visits and shared meals making it easy to bond with other solo travelers."
What's the best time of year for solo travelers to visit Indonesia?
The dry season from April to October offers reliable weather and draws more travelers. Booking data shows July to September is most popular with solo travelers as conditions are perfect for hiking Mount Bromo and temple visits. A TourRadar traveler notes: "I went in September and the weather was perfect for all activities plus there were plenty of other solo travelers to connect with."
