Jungle Trekking Reviews
- The Inca Journey
Would definitely go on another tour by g- adventures. This was my first time and plan on another trip. The only problem was the breakfast as there wasn’t enough to hold you till you have lunch later in the afternoon.
- Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu 4D/3N (Biking, Zip-Line & Rafting)
We really had an awesome time with Bamba on this four day trek. Thoroughly enjoyed the water rafting and zip lining. Special mention of our guide Pete who was super fun and knowledgeable and made sure all of us had a safe yet adventurous and fun trek.

Went on the Stater Costa Rica trip this time last year. I had never traveled solo, I had never been to Central America, and I had really no idea what to expect. This trip blew any expectations I had out of the water. Prior to the trip you get invited to a private facebook group with other members going on your same trip, this helped to ease nervousness I had about meeting a dozen or so new people. Jonno and Jurgen were phenomenal guides. They made sure that any question I - or anyone else on the trip had - was answered. They immediately felt like life long friends I had not seen in a while, rather than two tour guides I just met. When booking the trip I was curious why it was hard to find a set day-by-day itinerary for the trip, and that turned out to be because, there isn't one. Once on the trip it is highly customizable for what you do day-by-day and night-by-night contingent upon what the group - or a portion of the group want to do. The starter Costa Rica managed to combine the perfect ratio of relaxation and adventure in a vacation I was looking for. While on this trip we were offered the option of taking a yoga class with Luz at her and Matt's (the co-founder of U30x) home. They were beautiful, warm, inviting people who were genuinely interested in getting to know everyone they encountered. Once you return home from your trip there are lots of resources provided by U30x such as facebook groups and local U30x communities there to keep the adventure rolling and keep you engaged. This isn't just a tour company, but a company with a culture dedicated to connecting with its patrons and making them feel included and involved - both in "far away lands", and again once they return home. And that more than the trip itself is what will have me continue booking U30x trips.
What our customers ask about Jungle Trekking
What's the best time to go jungle trekking?
It really depends on where you're heading, but dry seasons usually give you the best experience. If you're going to the Peruvian Amazon, plan your trip between April and October when there's less rain. For Borneo's Kinabatangan area, the sweet spot is March through October. One of our travelers who did the Inca Jungle trek shared some good news: "this tour is at lower altitude, so even though February and March are rainy months, this adventure doesn't get affected by the rain."
How many hours will I hike each day?
Most days you'll be on the trail between 2 and 6 hours. In places like Ecuador's Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve, you'll typically do a 3-hour morning walk through the rainforest, plus maybe a shorter 1 or 2-hour walk in the afternoon. The paths can be pretty different - some are flat and easy along rivers, while others climb up hillsides. Don't worry though - you'll make plenty of stops to look for animals and learn about the forest from your guide.
Where will I sleep during the trek?
Your sleeping spots can range from tent camping to nice eco-lodges. The Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion near Puerto Maldonado is a good example - it has 25 private cabanas in a huge nature reserve, complete with private bathrooms and mosquito nets. If you're heading somewhere more remote, like Jamu Lodge in Ecuador's Amazon, you'll stay in simpler but clean lodges that focus on being eco-friendly.
How fit do I need to be?
You'll want to be in decent shape since you'll spend about 4-6 hours a day walking through thick forest on uneven ground. In places like Amazonas Basin and Tambopata Reserve, you'll be dealing with humid weather and temperatures between 85-95°F (29-35°C). At Jamu Lodge in the Amazon, for example, you'll walk about 3 hours through the rainforest with your guide, who'll point out wildlife and teach you about plants used as medicine.
How can I get ready for the weather?
Get ready for hot and sticky conditions - temperatures usually run between 75-95°F (24-35°C), and the humidity hits 80-100%. From what our Amazon travelers tell us, drinking lots of water is key, and you'll want to take it easy during activities. As one traveler put it: "The humidity and heat makes the trek challenging, breaks at viewing points and natural pools provide welcome relief."
