- Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return
We booked with Nepal Trekking Routes Treks & Expeditions for the Everest base camp trek with helicopter return and travelled during end of November 2018. From the beginning to the end of the trip, everything was very well planned and we were quite fortunate to have beautiful weather every single day. A fantastic bunch of team and were expertly guided on the trip by our Guide Nawin and the porters. All in all, it was a trip of a lifetime and the helicopter flight back to Kathmandu was definitely a highlight of our trek. I would highly recommend Nepal Trekking Routes Treks & Expeditions and will definitely be using them again. Thank you.
What our customers ask about 2 Week Hiking & Trekking Tours & Trips
How much daily hiking is involved on a typical 2 week trek?
You'll typically hike 5-8 hours each day, covering between 6-9 miles. On treks like the Annapurna Circuit, expect about 7 hours of walking to cover 7.5 miles while climbing 2,300 feet to reach Chame. The Camino de Santiago has longer walking days up to 17 miles, but the terrain is easier. One TourRadar traveler notes: "The pace was manageable with plenty of breaks, though some days were definitely challenging with steep ascents."
What's the best time of year for 2 week hiking tours?
The perfect time depends on where you're going. For Nepal's Everest and Annapurna areas, plan your trip during October-November or March-May when skies are clear and temperatures stay between 50-68°F. If you're hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc, go between June and September when there's no snow and temperatures are a comfortable 59-77°F. A TourRadar traveler shares: "Trekking in October provided perfect visibility of the Himalayas with comfortable daytime temperatures for hiking."
Where will I sleep during a 2 week hiking tour?
Your accommodations will mix basic mountain lodges with regular hotels in cities. On the Everest Base Camp trek, you'll stay in local teahouses like the Hotel Lukla Lodge when you're in the mountains, then switch to 3-star hotels like the Dal Vostro when you're in Kathmandu. In Vietnam, you might spend nights in family homes in mountain villages or sleep on boats in Halong Bay at places like the Le Journey Cruise. Most mountain lodges are simple but clean, with shared bathrooms.
How fit do I need to be for a 2 week hiking tour?
You should be in good shape since you'll be hiking 5-7 hours every day, often at high altitudes. The Everest Base Camp trek goes up to 18,192 feet and covers about 38.5 miles over several days. TourRadar travelers emphasize getting used to the altitude and building up your stamina before the trip. Vietnam's trails are easier, with 4-5 hour daily walks through villages and rice fields at lower heights.
What kind of training should I do before a 2 week hiking tour?
You'll want to be well-prepared since these treks can be challenging. For example, the Everest Base Camp trek takes you up to 17,769 feet, and you'll carry a daypack while hiking 5-7 hours each day. One TourRadar traveler says: "The trek was physically demanding but incredibly rewarding. From navigating rocky terrain to managing altitude changes, proper conditioning is essential." Plan to do cardio and strength training for 2-3 months before your trip.
How do hiking tours handle altitude adjustment?
Tours at high altitudes include specific rest days to help you adjust safely. The Everest Base Camp trek gives you two full days to rest - one at Namche Bazaar (11,286 feet) and another at Dingboche (14,469 feet). A TourRadar traveler confirms: "Our guide's careful attention to acclimatization with rest days and gradual ascent meant everyone in our group reached base camp successfully without altitude issues."
