10 Day Scandinavia Itinerary, incl. Copenhagen and Helsinki
Nordic treasures await across 12 cities in 10 days. The route stretches from Copenhagen's Little Mermaid to Helsinki's Russian architecture, showcasing Norway's fjords and Sweden's historic towns, with quality hotels and scenic ferry crossings.
- Days 1-2
Copenhagen & Danish Countryside
Start your Nordic journey in Copenhagen. Visit Tivoli Gardens in the morning before the crowds arrive and see the Little Mermaid statue in late afternoon when the light is perfect for photos. One visitor shared: "A morning walk along Nyhavn's colorful harbor houses is a perfect way to start your Scandinavian journey." On your second day drive across Denmark's impressive 20km sea bridge to Jutland. Visit H.C. Andersen's House and the Gothic cathedral in Odense before heading to Aarhus. Looking for lunch? Try a local smørrebrød restaurant. These Danish open sandwiches cost less and feel more authentic here than in Copenhagen.
- Days 3-4
Norwegian Coast & Bergen
Take the 3-hour morning ferry from Hirtshals to Kristiansand. Bring warm clothes if you want to enjoy the deck views. Drive along Norway's beautiful southern coast to Stavanger and stop at the Viking monument Swords in Rock. The next day you'll travel through the world's deepest undersea tunnel on your way to Bergen. In Bergen take the Fløibanen funicular up Mount Fløyen first thing. The morning fog usually clears by 10 AM giving you the best fjord views. Visit the historic Bryggen wharf area early since it gets crowded with cruise ship tourists after lunch.
- Days 5-6
Norwegian Fjords to Oslo
The trip to Oslo includes a 90-minute cruise through Sognefjord. Bring motion sickness medicine if you need it. Stop at the medieval Borgund Stave Church to see Norway's best-preserved wooden church with its amazing carvings. Oslo's efficient tram system makes it easy to see the main attractions like the Opera House and Viking Ship Museum. Make time to explore Frogner Park and its impressive sculptures.
- Days 7-8
Stockholm & Swedish Culture
Drive through Sweden's lake district to Stockholm a city spread across 14 islands. Begin in Gamla Stan (Old Town) when the morning light makes its narrow cobblestone streets look most beautiful. The Vasa Museum with its preserved 1628 warship is worth every penny. A previous visitor suggests: "Take the 'Under the Bridges' boat tour first - it helps you understand Stockholm's layout and tells you where to focus your time."
- Days 9-10
Finland's Coast & Helsinki
Take the overnight ferry through the Åland archipelago to Finland. Book a cabin on the starboard side for the best sunrise views. After arriving in Turku visit the wooden houses of Naantali before continuing to Helsinki. Make sure to visit Helsinki's Suomenlinna fortress islands. The ferry takes 15 minutes from Market Square but check the schedule since it changes by season. Spend your final days exploring the city's Russian-influenced architecture and busy Market Hall.
10 Days in Europe, incl. Rome and Amsterdam
The ultimate European circuit spans 10 days: 3 nights in Italy's Rome and Venice, 2 nights in Swiss Alps near Jungfrau, 2 nights in Germany's Black Forest region, and 2 nights in Amsterdam, featuring guided walks, Rhine River cruise, and canal tours.
- Days 1-2
Rome
Begin your journey in Rome. Get to the Spanish Steps by 8:30 AM to avoid the crowds. You can easily walk to the Pantheon and Piazza Navona afterward. "Instructions were clear and activities well organized," noted one traveler. For day 2, book your Vatican Museums tickets for early afternoon to skip the crowds. In summer, take a taxi to Vatican City instead of walking.
- Days 3-4
Venice via Siena
Take a 3-hour drive to Siena to explore its medieval center and the famous Piazza del Campo. Then continue to Venice (4 hours). Start your next day at St. Mark's Square before cruise ships arrive. "The gondola ride was magical but book it through your guide - street vendors charge more." Visit Murano and Burano islands in the afternoon when most tourists are in the main city.
- Days 5-6
Swiss Alps
- Day 7
Black Forest
- Day 8
Rhine Valley to Amsterdam
- Days 9-10
Amsterdam

What people love about 10-day Western Europe tours
- London to Rome Highlights (10 Days)
It would be nice if Trafalgar would give more details prior to the tour and not leave people who is inexperienced in the dark. But as for sarah, she was amazing, knowledgeable, funny, there is so much that I have to say about sarah and all are good things. She is a true tour guide who not only knows her history but knows how to be kind and respectful of people’s needs especially when we had 2 disable passengers in our group
- From Copenhagen to Helsinki
The whole tour from start to finish was very good, the guide sometimes were not very professional with the group and did not consider the disability of some people. I guess she is young and not very experienced. All the hotels were top class. Maybe more time in Oslo, was a bit rushed. Overall a tour to be recommend.
- Rome to Amsterdam
Cameron Benson......well what can I say, he and Xpat provided me with a tour of a lifetime! Cam is exceptional at what he does, he is extremely organized, brings people together from all walks of life to experience all that he has to offer. Cam is always on task, he provides you with so much information on all aspects of the trip. Cam is a great communicator and an awesome motivator, his upbeat attitude to everything can't help but inspire you to get involved in as many activities and Cams Surprises on offer. I will be doing another tour with Xpat at some stage in the future, I can only hope Cameron is the tour leader on that one too, cause I know that I'll be sure to have the time of my life! My only regret is that I didnt join the tour at the beginning when it left London! I highly recommend Expat Explore to anyone who wants to have a great experience. I score Cam 10/10!
