23 Days in Spain, Portugal & Morocco, incl. Barcelona and Marrakech
Explore Portugal and Spain over multiple days, from Porto's wine lodges to Granada's Alhambra. Visit Lisbon's Belem Tower, Seville's Cathedral, and Madrid's historic center.
- Days 1-2
Barcelona
Begin in the Gothic Quarter. Visit Sagrada Familia before 9 AM to avoid crowds - take metro L2 or L5 instead of dealing with morning traffic. Your second day is perfect for discovering Gaudí's works on Passeig de Gràcia including Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. The Montjuïc cable car offers great harbor views but skip it in windy weather when it often closes.
- Days 3-4
Madrid
Take the AVE train (3 hours) to Madrid. Walk through the Hapsburg district to see Madrid's imperial history starting at Plaza Mayor and continuing to the Royal Palace. For the best churros con chocolate in town visit Chocolatería San Ginés before 11 AM to beat the lines. Look for great shopping and restaurants in the Salamanca area.
- Days 5-6
Porto
Travel via Salamanca to Porto. The city is full of steep hills so bring good walking shoes with grip for those slippery riverside cobblestones. A morning Douro River cruise gives you the best photo opportunities. Schedule your port wine cellar tour in Vila Nova de Gaia for late afternoon when it's cooler.
- Days 7-9
Coimbra & Lisbon
Visit Aveiro, known as Portugal's "Venice" and take a moliceiro boat through its canals. In Coimbra you'll find amazing views from the university but it's quite a climb - local buses are available if needed. Take two full days to explore Lisbon's neighborhoods. One visitor shared: "The Alfama district is a maze - download an offline map before exploring or you'll definitely get lost in its charming alleyways."

Rich cultural heritage awaits across 20 key destinations in Portugal and Spain over 15 days. Roam Porto's wine cellars, Santiago de Compostela's medieval streets, and Lisbon's historic quarters. Includes stays at VIP Executive Entrecampos and AC Marriott Porto, with daily breakfast and guided tours.
- Days 1-2
Barcelona
Get to the Gothic Quarter early before the crowds roll in. Book your Sagrada Familia visit for 8:30 AM to see Gaudi's masterwork while it's still peaceful. Fill your afternoons walking Las Ramblas and exploring the Maremagnum area by the beach. Getting to Park Güell is easy. Just take the L3 green line metro from the city center and time it for sunset.
- Days 3-4
Valencia & Madrid
Drive 3 hours south to see Peñiscola's medieval walls. Stop in Valencia for real paella at La Pepica near the beach. You'll reach Madrid by evening. Spend Day 4 seeing Madrid's best spots like Retiro Park and Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. "The Royal Palace tour is worth doing first thing - the changing of the guard at 11 AM gets very crowded."
- Days 5-6
Granada & Morocco Crossing
- Days 7-8
Casablanca & Marrakech
See Rabat's Royal Palace and Kasbah in the morning before going to Casablanca to visit the Hassan II Mosque. You'll get to Marrakech by evening. Take a full day to see the medina, Jemaa el-Fnaa square and Bahia Palace. "The souks are less crowded and sellers more negotiable in the early morning. Save serious shopping for then."
- Days 9-11
Sahara Desert Circuit
Cross the Atlas Mountains but bring layers since temperatures change a lot. Visit Ait Benhaddou kasbah on your way to the Sahara. Watch the sunset over the Erg Chebbi dunes. Come back through the Middle Atlas to see Berber villages and wild monkeys in the cedar forests near Azrou. End your desert trip in Fes.
- Days 12-14
Return to Spain & Seville
Take the ferry back to Spain and continue to Seville. You'll have two full days to explore this Andalusian city. Make sure to see the cathedral, Alcázar palace and Santa Cruz quarter. The Guadalquivir river cruise gives you a different view of the city. For real flamenco away from tourist spots head to the Triana neighborhood at night.
