Covering 2,000km across Mongolia, this 18-day route includes 5 days of trekking. The path leads from Ulaanbaatar through Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, taking in Turgen Mountains' glacier, Uureg Lake, and Khoton Lake, with stays at Bayangol Hotel and traditional ger camps.
- Days 1-2
Ulaanbaatar & Western Flight
Plan to arrive in Ulaanbaatar by noon for the 2 PM city tour. You'll visit Sukhbaatar Square and experience traditional Mongolian music before a welcome dinner. - Days 3-5
Turgen Mountain Trek
Spend three days trekking through Urd Turgen Valley, covering 15-17km daily across grasslands and boulder fields. One traveler shared: "The scenery was outstanding, and seeing a lifestyle that still exists this way was hard to believe!" Not confident about walking? You can hire a horse. Nights are in tented camps at 2,600m elevation. Pack a warm sleeping bag because nights get cold.

Uureg Lake
This lake near the Russian border is perfect for summer swimming, though the water stays cold even in July. Bring quick-dry towels. Day 7 is flexible for weather delays or rest. High Altitude Trek
This challenging section includes crossing Tahilt Pass at 3,200m. The climb is steep and often snowy. You'll need trekking poles and waterproof bags for cameras since afternoon storms are common. Pack camels carry the heavy gear, but keep a daypack for water, extra clothes and snacks. The trek ends with a visit to a Kazakh family to learn about their hunting culture.

What people love about 3-week Mongolia tours
- "Adventure tour Mongolia" with Naadam festival
Mongolia was my dream and it became a reality during last summer, I came back amazed by the beauty of the landscapes, by unexpected encounters the kindness and hospitality of the Mongols who without knowing us, invited in their yurt to offer us some delicious salty tea or a party - and it was thanks to our guide, professionalism, sense of discovery and resourcefulness that we had a great time and have benefited from every moment. Our guide Bayaraa had planned everything: local and delicious food, accommodation with nomads or bivouac in landscapes of breathtaking beauty and all in good mood. I dream to go back because Mongolia is great and there is so much to discover. Long live Bayaraa and "Nomadic of Blue Sky" team.
- Wild Mongolia
Intrepid's Wild Mongolia tour was above and beyond my expectations. Our guide TEM, our drivers and staff we met along the way did all they could to make our tour interesting, educational, adventurous, safe and lots of fun. Mongolia is so much more than I expected. I never felt like we we roughing it. Accommodations were unique, scenic and sufficient. The homestays were a challenge that bonded the group and the families. The activities gave us a variety of experiences. I highly recommend is you want a challenging, adventurous tour with not too much physical exertion.
