The 485km route through Zambia reveals the country's diversity from Lusaka's urban pulse to Livingstone's natural wonders. Munali Hills Pass monument and Kalomo's colonial heritage provide historical context before white rhino encounters in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park and Victoria Falls adventures.

What people love about Zambia Tours
- Exciting LUSAKA to LIVINGSTONE Overland Adventure Safari Tour - 6 Days
The highlight was the continous talking with the guides about the culturell background (tribes, cities, colony time, social behaviour,...). The culturell tour itself was overall interesting. However, the actual options are limited. Museums (Choma/Livingstone) und culturell exhibition (Livingstone: Mukini Village, Maramba Culturll Village). The historical site of the british history in Kalomo needs to be prepared better by the government. Overall I expected more. Instead of extra "free" time in Livingstone the time should be changed in 3 overnight stays at 2 the village of 2 tribes (living/cooking). And the overall booking of the agreed hotels should be paid of the agency to the hotels before start of the tour. I had problems in Livingstone.
- Zambia: 8-Days Nanzhila Cultural, Historical and Wildlife Safari Adventure
I really felt like I was immersed in the culture. Mark made sure that our trip was fantastic and really put in an effort to provide us with knowledgeable guides along the way. It was everything promised and more! I will definitely use them again for our next trip.
- 9 Days - Zambia: Enjoyable MWEZI Travel Expedition Safari Adventure
The itinerary was good. It could have been better if I had seen more wildlife, but I can’t fault the Tour Company, I was told “due to a very dry season”. Thank you, Alick (driver) and Hest (guide), for a wonderful time. Alick took great care in driving, especially the gravel road, also called African Massage :) Hest was very knowledgeable and informative in explaining about the animals, trees, plants. At times I was amazed at the amount of her knowledge, specially with the animals. I know more now than before the tour started. Alick and Hest worked great together. At times (on the road) when we see an animal/special tree, Alick would pull over, and Hest would give information about them. Overall, it’ was a good tour.

Zambia's got some solid options if you're keeping an eye on costs. The 6-day Kafue budget safari gets you into one of Africa's biggest parks, with camping spots right by Lake Ithezi-Thezi and along the Kafue River. Our groups often spot wild dogs and cheetahs moving through their territories. There's also a shorter 3-day tour in Kafue's southern region that's quite popular - one of our travelers mentioned how their guide Gift really brought the landscape to life with stories from growing up in the area. If you're short on time, the Kanzwa excursion gives you two nights in the park's south, where elephants, hippos and also buffalos come remarkably close to camp.
The luxury side of Zambia safaris focuses on top-tier comfort and attention to detail. David Livingstone Safari Lodge and Spa sits right near Victoria Falls - you'll watch the morning mist rise while having coffee on your private deck. Over at Baines' River Camp in Lower Zambezi, you might track lions in the morning then switch to a boat for afternoon hippo-watching. Up in Busanga Plains, the luxury tented camps feel wonderfully remote with hardly any other vehicles around. These tours include nice extras like helicopter rides over Victoria Falls, plus guides who shape each day around what interests you most.

41 tours in ZambiaThe intimate safari groups in Zambia take you deeper into the wilderness, with expert guides who bring both wildlife and culture to life. One of our top tours blends 10 days of authentic Tonga village experiences with game viewing, where guide Doreen shares genuine cultural insights, and often makes time for unexpected local celebrations along the way. Nature enthusiasts connect well with our 9-day expedition led by specialists like Hest, who reads subtle wildlife traces and expertly explains ecosystem connections throughout Kafue National Park. We keep the southern circuit groups small, typically 4-5 guests plus staff, creating an easygoing atmosphere that first-time safari travelers appreciate. The Zambezi canoe sections naturally bring people closer together, as they track wildlife on foot and camp on river islands. In Chieftainess Mweenda's territory, groups can either stay with local families or head back to comfortable lodges, depending on what suits them best.
Top Zambia travel itineraries to fit your plans

Seven-day tours split naturally between Livingstone and Kafue National Park. Start at Victoria Falls with guided walks and evening river cruises before heading into Kafue's quiet wilderness. Many travelers choose to spend 3-4 days at Mukambi Safari Lodge, where game drives, walking safaris and boat trips along the Kafue River regularly turn up leopards, wild dogs and also cheetahs. The Busanga Plains tours are particularly good for lion viewing - you'll often catch them hunting in the morning mist. For something different, our 7-day fishing trips to Mambova let you learn traditional methods from local guides using mokoro canoes.

Ten days gives you space to really explore Zambia's wildlife and culture. Our main route starts in Livingstone, combining Victoria Falls and Mosi-oa-Tunya's white rhinos before moving north through Kalomo, Zambia's original colonial capital. The stays at Mukanzubo Cultural Institute let you dive into traditional music, crafts and also cooking. Wildlife-focused options split time between Lower Zambezi's riverside game viewing and Kafue's open spaces. Boat safaris get you right up close to drinking elephant herds on the Zambezi, while night drives often reveal leopards hunting in the darkness.

Two weeks lets you properly discover Zambia's different ecosystems. Our most requested route links three key wildlife areas: South Luangwa where walking safaris began, Lower Zambezi for canoe trips past bathing elephants and also Kafue's remote Busanga Plains with its resident lions. Our travelers often mention how distinct each region feels - from South Luangwa's oxbow lagoons full of hippos to Kafue's sprawling savanna. Some tours add Lake Kariba's shoreline for crocodile spotting and eagle watching before heading into the Chipata mountains. Having 14 days means you can take your time and really get to know each unique habitat.
Demographics
Solo travelers tend to click really well with our Zambezi Canoe Safari - the guides have a knack for bringing the group together during those river paddles. You'll get incredibly close to wildlife, often with elephants and hippos visiting right by the campsite at night. Early morning starts on the water help dodge the heat and catch the best wildlife moments. Another solid choice takes you through Kafue's quiet southern section, where you'll stay in safari tents at Mwamfushi Lodge right on the water's edge. Our cultural routes through the Tonga areas work nicely too - you'll spend time with local families and learn their customs firsthand. The South Luangwa walking safaris naturally pull people together - there's nothing like tracking wildlife on foot to create shared experiences.
Many couples go for our 10-day trip that combines Victoria Falls with South Luangwa and also Lower Zambezi valleys. It hits that sweet spot between getting out there and staying comfortable - you'll do game drives and river safaris, then head back to riverside lodges for evening drinks together. The private canoe safaris on the Zambezi are particularly special - just you two and the guide quietly gliding past wildlife. Another favorite takes you into Kafue's remote Busanga Plains, with intimate camps where elephants sometimes walk through during dinner. The cultural tours in Chieftainess Mweenda's area let you dive into village life, with options to stay with local families or return to comfortable lodges.
Young adults after real action love our 7-day Livingstone and Kafue combo. You'll kick off with Victoria Falls activities - think helicopter rides, rapids that'll test your nerve and also bungee jumping - before heading into Kafue's wild spaces. The 4x4 drives take you deep into lion, rhino and cheetah territory. South Luangwa's walking safaris add another layer of intensity - being on foot completely changes how you experience wildlife encounters. Those interested in local life can join village tours, helping with daily tasks and picking up traditional skills. Lower Zambezi brings plenty of activity too - you'll paddle past hippos, track animals at night and follow elephants on foot.
Our older travelers really connect with the canoe safaris' steady pace and close wildlife viewing. The guides can handle all the paddling if you prefer, letting you focus on watching elephants along the banks and spotting birds. Southern Zambia's cultural tours fit well too - you'll check out historic places, meet local chiefs and learn about traditions without rushing. Some prefer settling into Lower Zambezi's lodges, mixing comfortable stays with excellent game viewing by vehicle and also boat. Walking safaris adapt to different fitness levels, and our guides are skilled at spotting wildlife while keeping everyone comfortable.

- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter brings excellent wildlife viewing in Zambia and we've got some really solid safari options. Our most popular winter tour takes you through Kafue National Park where you'll settle in at Mukambi Lodge - it's got these great riverside decks for wildlife watching and evening campfires that our guests love. The game drives run about 6 hours and get you deep into the Busanga Plains; our travelers often tell us how much they enjoy watching hyenas and all sorts of birds around Kwale Campsite. There's also this fantastic multi-country option that combines Zambia with Zimbabwe and Botswana where you'll track rhinos in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, get up close with elephants in Chobe and explore the Zambezi valley. For a deeper cultural experience mixed with wildlife, we run a 10-day southern route where you'll spend time with Chief Choongo's people and learn about independence history at Samu Lya Moomba.

Summer is all about getting on the water when temperatures are at their warmest. The Zambezi River canoe safari is something special - our guests always message us about watching elephants and hippos right from water level and camping on river islands under starlit skies. The guides really know their stuff, pointing out wildlife and sharing local knowledge about traditional plant uses. We've also got this great three-park summer tour covering South Luangwa, Lower Zambezi and Mosi-oa-Tunya that mixes up game drives, walking safaris and river activities. What our customers ask about Zambia Tours & Trips
What makes each of Zambia's top national parks special?
You'll find something unique in each of Zambia's incredible parks. South Luangwa is basically leopard central and if you're into walking safaris this is your spot. Over in Kafue which spreads out over 22,400 km2 you get this really wild untamed feeling with amazing chances to spot rare animals like wild dogs and cheetahs roaming the vast Busanga Plains. Then there's Lower Zambezi right along the Zimbabwe border where you can hop in a canoe and drift past incredible birdlife with the mighty Zambezi River as your backdrop.
Want to experience authentic Zambian culture?
Head down to Southern Zambia where you can really dive into Tonga culture. The coolest experience is probably visiting Chieftainess Mwenda's Chiefdom near Chikankanta where you'll get right into daily village life try your hand at grinding maize and even spend the night with a local family if you're up for it. For something more structured the Mukazubo Cultural Research Institute in Chisekesi runs amazing workshops where you can learn traditional music dance and crafts.
How do you get around Zambia?
Getting around Zambia's pretty flexible though internal flights between major spots and safari destinations can be a bit pricey that's something our travelers often mention. Road trips in private vehicles are great for really seeing the country especially on shorter routes like Lusaka to Livingstone which takes about 5 hours. Public buses connect the big cities too they're budget-friendly but you'll need to factor in longer travel times.
Looking for hidden gems in Zambia?
You've got to check out Kasanka National Park up north especially during the incredible bat migration between October and December when millions of fruit bats fill the sky. It's also fantastic for birding and you might spot the shy Sitatunga antelope. History buffs should visit Chitambo Mission where Dr. Livingstone spent his final days and if you're after stunning scenery without the crowds head to Mumbuluma and Ntumbachusi Falls you won't regret it.
