Exploring Rozafa Castle and taking in the panoramic views of Lake Shkodra was the perfect introduction to Albania's rich heritage. Next, we headed to Durrës, where the ancient Roman amphitheater and the lively seaside promenade gave us a glimpse of both the country's past and its vibrant present. Berat, known as the "City of a Thousand Windows," was another highlight. Wandering through the cobblestone streets of the old quarters and visiting the hilltop castle transported us back in time. Local Friends Albania ensured we got to meet locals and even sample homemade treats, which made the visit feel extra special. The journey continued to Gjirokastra, the “Stone City,” where the beautifully preserved Ottoman architecture and the imposing castle offered a fascinating look into Albania's history. Throughout the tour, the team at Local Friends Albania was exceptional. Our guide was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also warm, friendly, and passionate about showcasing the best of Albania.
