What people love about Christmas & New Year Tours from Amsterdam
- European Trail (Winter, Start Amsterdam, Classic)
Emily was just phenomenal. She is everything you want and need in a guide. She has the best personality and attitude ever. She would go above and beyond and bend over backwards for anyone with anything. Wish I could give her more stars
- Amsterdam, Berlin and Prague
Second time touring with Europamundo and did not disappoint! Maria Monse was a great guide, very knowledgeable and all around excellent. Vicente, our driver was responsible, safe and careful. Tour was very well planned, visiting key sites and enough time with tour and on your own! Will definitely tour with Europamundo again.
- Gotta-See Europe: Germany, Austria, Italy
I had q wonderful experience. The trip showed em a lot of cool places that I wanna go back to. I met a lot fo cool people in the tour group that I am still keeping in touch with. I definitely recommend this tour. My only issue was my tour guide David H. He always disappeared and creeped me out a little too. But other than that it was an amazing time! Very grateful for this tour.
What our customers ask about Christmas & New Year Tours from Amsterdam
What Christmas markets and events can I find on these tours?
Starting in Amsterdam, you'll get to explore several great holiday markets, like the Winter Paradise at RAI Amsterdam and the floating market at Museumplein. As you travel, you'll visit some of Europe's most popular markets, including the ones in Berlin's Alexanderplatz, Prague's Old Town Square, and Strasbourg's historic market. Along the way, you can try hot mulled wine, shop for handmade crafts, and catch local holiday performances. You'll stay at well-located hotels like the Renaissance Amsterdam, which puts you right in the middle of the festivities.
How cold does it get during Christmas and New Year tours from Amsterdam?
Amsterdam winters are chilly but manageable, with temperatures usually between 30-40°F (-1 to 4°C). When you head to cities like Berlin and Prague, it gets a bit colder, around 25-35°F (-4 to 2°C). The good news is that if your tour includes southern stops like Nice or Rome, you'll get some warmer days at 45-55°F (7 to 13°C). Hotels like the Ibis Amsterdam Centre Stopera and NH Collection Amsterdam Barbizon Palace keep you warm and comfortable between outings.
What makes Christmas tours from Amsterdam special?
You'll get to see Amsterdam at its most magical, with the Light Festival lighting up the canals and Christmas markets bringing Dam Square and Museumplein to life. Many travelers love taking evening canal cruises with hot drinks while looking at all the holiday lights. One TourRadar traveler on a Viking River Cruise shared: "the holiday atmosphere along the canals was absolutely magical, especially with all the festive decorations and lights reflecting on the water."
What should I pack for a winter tour from Amsterdam?
Plan for cold weather since Amsterdam and most stops hover between 30-45°F (-1 to 7°C). If you're heading to Switzerland, temperatures can dip to 20-35°F (-6 to 2°C), while southern cities like Rome stay milder at 45-55°F (7-13°C). As one TourRadar traveler put it: "Pack layers and warm clothing, especially for the outdoor Christmas markets and New Year celebrations."
Which holiday markets will I visit on tours from Amsterdam?
Your holiday market adventure starts at Amsterdam's Museumplein market. From there, many tours take you to Cologne, where you can explore seven different markets, and then to Strasbourg to see Europe's oldest Christmas market. If you're traveling along the Rhine, you'll find even more markets along the way. TourRadar travelers often mention how much they enjoy "the enchanting combination of Dutch and German Christmas markets, each with their unique local specialties."
How many cities do these Christmas tours usually cover?
Most tours visit 4-6 European cities over 8-12 days. Popular routes either follow the river (Amsterdam-Cologne-Strasbourg-Basel) or take you through major cities (Amsterdam-Paris-Munich-Vienna). According to TourRadar travelers, this setup offers the "perfect balance of festive experiences across different European cities" without feeling rushed during the holiday season.
