- Days 1-3
Lisbon Region
Start your golf adventure by flying into Lisbon Airport and heading to a resort south of the city. Book a mid-morning arrival to skip Lisbon's busy rush hour from 8-10 AM. You'll play your first two rounds at courses near Lisbon. Pack plenty of sunscreen since Portuguese courses don't offer much shade. Take a break between rounds for lunch by the beach and watch the sun set over the Atlantic. In the afternoon visit the Setúbal region for wine tasting where you can sample their famous Moscatel wines.
- Day 4
Lisbon to Algarve Transfer
- Days 5-7
Central Algarve
Stay in Vilamoura or Albufeira to be close to several championship courses. The Algarve courses are more demanding than those in Lisbon. Watch out for ocean winds when selecting clubs for seaside holes. Book morning tee times in summer to avoid afternoon heat that can hit 95°F. On your day off take a guided tour to less-visited spots like Ferragudo's fishing village.
- Days 8-9
Return to Lisbon
Play one last round during your drive back. Book a hotel in Chiado or Principe Real. These neighborhoods put you close to the farewell dinner spot without the tourist crowds you'll find in Baixa. A recent traveler shared: "The seafood restaurant for our farewell dinner had incredible views over the Tagus River. Try the local vinho verde - it pairs perfectly with the fresh fish."

- Day 1
Lagos
Begin your Algarve journey in Lagos' historic center. The streets are quieter and more enjoyable after 4 PM when most tourists leave. Book accommodation near Marina de Lagos to easily access both the old town and beach. Take an evening stroll along Avenida dos Descobrimentos where you'll find numerous restaurants serving local seafood.
- Days 2-3
Lagos Base & West Coast Exploration
Spend the next two days on circular walks from Lagos. Your first walk takes you along the rugged west coast trail to Figueira (14 km). Start your hike early before the midday heat hits 30°C. The path between Sagres and Figueira needs good hiking shoes since limestone surfaces can be slippery even several days after rain. The next day walk to Burgau for the Ponta da Piedade loop (16 km). This section offers incredible coastal views. Plan to reach Ponta da Piedade lighthouse in late afternoon when sunlight bathes the ochre cliffs in golden light. Bring plenty of water as you won't find many places to refill between Burgau and Lagos.
- Day 4
Lagos to Albufeira
The Seven Hanging Valleys trail near Carvoeiro is today's highlight. Watch your step on the morning section from Ferragudo where some cliff paths have worn away. Stop for lunch at Praia da Marinha around kilometer 10. Get there before 1 PM to secure a spot on the beach. The walk to Albufeira becomes easier after this point.
- Day 5
Albufeira to Faro
Today offers a more relaxed pace as you enter the eastern Algarve. Walk the Ludo Trail through Ria Formosa Natural Park. Bring binoculars if you enjoy birdwatching. Be careful crossing the bridge to Faro Island on windy days. You'll notice how different the eastern lagoons look compared to the western cliffs.
- Day 6
Faro to Tavira
Your longest day at 19 km. Take the 8 AM train to Fuzeta to avoid the heat. You'll pass salt pans and fishing villages that feel worlds apart from western Algarve's tourist spots. Boats run every 30 minutes from Tavira Island to town until sunset (€2.50). One walker shared: "The final boat ride into Tavira was magical - the whole town glowed pink in the evening light."
- Day 7
Tavira & Vila Real de Santo António
- Day 8
Departure from Tavira

What people love about 10-day Algarve tours
- Walking in Portugal - Remote Coastal Trails
Our guide didn't have much knowledge about the area. Apart from telling us where we were going each day, we weren't told about history of the area or anything?? What made the tour great was the people we walked with.
