What people love about Gokyo Valley Trek Tours in August
- Gokyo Valley Trek
We recently completed the Gokyo Ri trek with Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. Our guide, Bishnu, was at the heart of it all - professional, warm, and incredibly thoughtful. From the moment we arrived in Nepal, he took care of everything: airport pickups and drop-offs, domestic flights, hotel bookings, trek accommodations, and all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Upon arrival in Lukla, Bishnu arranged a porter to help with our bags. Then every evening, without fail, Bishnu offered us an apple and pomegranate - a simple yet heartfelt gesture that reflected his deep hospitality. He remained flexible with the itinerary, adjusting to our needs and checking in regularly to ensure we were acclimatising well and feeling supported. One of the things we appreciated most was Bishnu’s honesty and integrity. He was completely transparent about costs from the beginning - there were no hidden charges or unexpected add-ons. It was clear that his focus was on delivering a meaningful and comfortable experience, rather than on profit. His approach built trust immediately, and we always felt respected and valued as guests. Bishnu truly embodied the Nepalese belief that “Guest is God.” Beyond guiding us through the Himalayas, he shared his culture, values, and personal stories with us. We didn’t just complete a trek - we built a friendship. In the evenings, we laughed, played cards, and had deep conversations that made the experience even more memorable. Our itinerary: Day 1: Kathmandu to Ramechhap, to Lukla to Phakding Day 2: Phakding to Namche Bazaar Day 3: Acclimatisation in Namche Bazaar Day 4: Namche Bazaar to Dole Day 5: Dole to Machhermo Day 6: Machhermo to Gokyo Day 7: Acclimatisation & sunrise trek to Gokyo Ri Day 8: Return journey We ended the adventure with a traditional farewell dinner in Kathmandu, complete with live cultural dance performances - a beautiful way to conclude the journey. Throughout the trek, we learned so much - not only about Nepal and its breathtaking landscapes, but also about ourselves, Nepalese culture, and the importance of humility and character, much of which we saw reflected in Bishnu himself. The total package was very reasonably priced compared to other companies, especially considering the level of care and personal attention we received. If you’re considering a trek in Nepal, we wholeheartedly recommend Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure and Bishnu. You’ll be guided with expertise, treated with genuine kindness, and walk away with memories - and friendships - that will last a lifetime.
- Everest Cho La Pass Gokyo Trek
We just recently done 14 days Everest Base Camp Trek using Outfitter Nepal Treks & Expedition P. Ltd. I highly recommend this company. They provide an excellent service for us. There was an initial problem when we arrive in Nepal. There seems to have a communication error between tourradar and Outfitter Nepal Treks & Expedition P. Ltd. We arrive early at the airport, and Outfitter did not have our correct time, so we have to hire a taxi to bring us to the hotel. When the boss of Outfitter come over to our hotel and meet with us, the very first thing he said to us was ‘sorry’ for not being at the airport and picking us up. He said he already had arrange with his people to fetch us at the airport at that time but due to having the wrong information on our time arrival, they were not able to pick us up. Having the boss of Outfitte apologise to us really made an impression on me and made me feel that this company really care about it clients. The guide we had during our trek was Arjun Dharel. His great. This guy is really patient with us. We were quite slow during our trek, but he kept encouraging us to persevere and continue to finish the trek. Slowly but surely, we manage to reach Everest Base Camp thanks to Arjun. He really take care of our need. He always ask if we need something, helps with the photography too, we got lots of photos which is a bonus. After the trek, the boss of outfitter meet with us again, Raj. He surprise us with a free farewell dinner. We were surprise they did this. I never experience this before. One of the boss of outfitter treating us for a farewell dinner and asking us how the trip went, the good, the bad and overall what we think of the whole trip. I find this really good as this show how this company want to connect to their clients and their desire to know which aspect of the service may need improving. And we stayed in MoonLight Hotel in Kathmandu. Highly recommend this hotel. The room, the resultant and generally the hotel is clean. Provide good service. Room is nice and the shower is really great, really good water pressure and it had the rain shower style. After 14days no showering in the EBC trek, I really appreciate the good shower in the hotel.
- Gokyo Lake Trek - Wonders of Himalayas
I recently took the amazing Gokyo Lake Trek - Wonders of Himalayas, and I can confidently say that this trip has lived up to its name! My trekking experience was flawless from start to finish, and I am already planning my next trekking adventure with Mountain Rock Treks. When I first arrived in Kathmandu, I was warmly welcomed by the crew from Nepal Trekking Trails. From the accommodation to the food and trek, every detail was well taken care of, and I was thoroughly impressed. The team's hospitality was much appreciated, making me feel at home in a foreign land. The trek has provided some of the most beautiful views of the Himalayas I have seen in my entire life. The pristine blue of the Gokyo Lakes, the craggy peaks of Everest and Lhotse, the wonderful sunshine reflecting on the mountaintops - these are thoughts that will stay with me forever! Not to mention the delicious food and like-minded companions we encountered on our trek. It was indeed an unforgettable experience! The guide provided by Mountain Rock Treks was genuinely knowledgeable and shared interesting facts about local culture and values with us. His name was Dambar. He was informative and funny and helped us take our trek to the peak of success. The whole team was at our disposal whenever we needed anything and ensured we were always taken care of. In addition, Mountain Rock Treks provided convenient transportation from Kathmandu to the starting point of the trek. After the trek was completed, they even ensured we got safely to the airport for our flight back to Kathmandu. I highly recommend Mountain Rick Treks to anyone interested in experiencing an unforgettable Himalayan trekking tour. From the accommodations, food, and trek to the friendly crew, local culture, and beautiful views, they have all your needs covered. Not to mention the convenience of having this at a relatively reasonable price. So go ahead and book your next Himalayan trek with Mountain Rock Treks - you will not regret it!

During August the monsoon brings temperatures between 10-20°C (50-68°F) to Gokyo Valley. Trekkers can expect daily rainfall especially in the afternoons along the route through Namche Bazaar Dole and the Gokyo Lakes region. Morning hours provide better visibility for hiking. Recent travelers report that despite the rain views of Mt. Everest Cho Oyu and surrounding peaks remain visible from comfortable bases like the Gokyo Resort lodge.

Photographers will find excellent shots at the bright blue Gokyo Lakes Gokyo Ri (5357m) at sunrise and along Nepal's longest ice river the Ngozumpa Glacier. A recent visitor noted: "The view from Gokyo Ri summit was incredible - we could see four 8000m peaks including Everest Lhotse Makalu and Cho Oyu along with the beautiful emerald Gokyo lakes below." Both Yeti Mountain Home locations in Namche and Phakding offer additional photo opportunities.

Trekkers need two permits: the Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit ($30) and the TIMS Card ($10). Get these documents in Kathmandu or at Monjo checkpoints. Mountain Rock Treks notes: "During monsoon season permit processing is typically faster due to fewer trekkers. We handle all permit arrangements for our guests." Keep permits handy for regular checks on the trail.
