Itinerary
- Day 1
Lushoto to Lukozi
Your drive from Lushoto to Magamba village sets things in motion, and then you'll head into the rainforest for your first hike. Watch for black and white Columbus monkeys moving through the canopy, plus all the colorful flowers and birds around you. The terrain gets hilly as you make your way to Lukozi village where dinner and your first night are waiting.

Landmarks Magamba Rainforest - Day 2
Lukozi to Rangwi
After breakfast you'll walk through valleys with farmers' villages scattered across scenic hills, and nearby peaks come into view. The Rangwi Sisters welcome you at their Convent for the night. You'll have coffee or tea to settle in, then later take an evening walk to meet and chat with local people around the area.

- Day 3
Rangwi to Mtae
You'll spend the day walking through traditional Washambaa villages and seeing how people live there, including time with local pottery women groups. Mtae viewpoint is next, and from there you can see the Maasai plains, Mkomazi National Park, and Tsavo West in Kenya. On clear days Kilimanjaro shows itself too. This viewpoint works great for both sunrise and sunset. Stay overnight at Magumba viewpoint lodge.

Mtae to Mlalo
After breakfast you'll walk to Goka village, a walk that takes roughly half an hour until the forest starts. Traditional villages dot the route and you'll visit local pottery women groups along the way. From there it's onward to Mlalo for dinner and your night's rest.

- Day 5
Mlalo to Mkuzi
A two hour drive takes you to Mkuzi village, and from there you'll hike into the forest toward the Mkuzu waterfall. After some time at the waterfall you'll walk back out and head to Muller's Lodge for the night.

Mkuzi to Lushoto
Driving from Muller's Lodge to Kwesimu village, then walking to Irente Farm and viewpoint gives you views overlooking Mazinde village almost 1,000 meters below and the wide Maasai plains stretching out. This spot ranks as one of the most popular viewpoints in Usambara. On the return trip you'll stop at Irente Farm for homemade lunch with cheese, jam, juice, butter, brown bread and whatever seasonal fruit is available. Then you'll either walk or drive back to Lushoto and stay at Kakakuona Lodge.

At Leisure
This day is yours to do what you'd like, and it's not part of the tour cost. You can walk around Lushoto on your own, or if you want you can arrange optional activities to fill your time.
