Itinerary
- Day 1
Thessaloniki to Kalambaka
Your hotel picks you up in Thessaloniki, and then you'll travel south through Thessaly's plains toward Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The drive takes you through farmland and gradually into the foothills where those dramatic rock pillars start appearing on the horizon. Once there, you'll visit two active monasteries built right on top of the sandstone formations, and you can walk through them to see centuries-old frescoes still covering the walls. There are good spots along the way to stop for photos since the views across the rock landscape are pretty striking. Around midday, lunch happens at a local taverna in Kalambaka where they serve authentic regional dishes, then you'll head to your accommodation for the night.

Kalambaka to Delphi to Thessaloniki
After breakfast, the journey continues south toward Delphi, driving through Mount Parnassus and winding mountain roads across central Greece. Once you reach the ancient archaeological site, you can walk through the Temple of Apollo, the ancient theater carved into the hillside, and the Treasury of the Athenians. The archaeological museum sits nearby and holds important pieces like the Charioteer of Delphi statue and the Sphinx of Naxos. You'll have lunch somewhere in the Delfi area before heading back north toward Thessaloniki. The drive back takes most of the afternoon and early evening, so you'll arrive back at your hotel after dark.
