Itinerary
- Day 1
Georgetown to Iwokrama River Lodge
You'll leave Georgetown early in the morning and head to Iwokrama River Lodge using either a 4x4 vehicle through rainforest (about 8 hours) or taking a local airline flight that gets you there in just 1 hour. After lunch, you'll walk the 154-metre Canopy Walkway with its suspension bridges reaching up to 30 metres high, where you can spot macaws, toucans, and Red Howler Monkeys moving through the trees. Back at the lodge for dinner, you'll have views overlooking the Essequibo River, and then you'll head out on a nocturnal river cruise to search for Black Caimans and nocturnal wildlife.

- Day 2
Iwokrama
Following breakfast, you'll take a scenic 30-minute boat ride to Turtle Mountain's base. The hike to the 290-metre summit takes about 1.5 to 2 hours and is mildly challenging, but rewards you with rainforest canopy views. Watch for Harpy Eagles, King Vultures, various kites, Red Howler Monkeys, and Black Spiders along the way. You'll return to the lodge for lunch and rest during the afternoon. From there, you can either head north back to Georgetown or check out other sites in the Rupununi area.
