San Pedro Sula
Your guide meets you at San Pedro Sula International Airport. If you're arriving late afternoon, you'll spend your first night here in the city. The evening includes a tour of the local cathedral and time to browse the Guamelito craft market, where you can pick up handmade goods and get a feel for the local culture.

San Pedro Sula to Copán
You'll travel from San Pedro Sula toward Copán Ruinas, making stops along the way at a fair trade coffee hacienda and an organic pineapple plantation where you can taste the products. Once you reach the village of Copán Ruinas, there's time to walk through its Mayan heritage sites and check out the Mayan museum to learn about the ancient civilization. If cigars interest you, you can sample some Flor de Copán cigars produced locally.

Copán Ruinas
An English-speaking guide takes you through the Copán Mayan Ruins, showing you the Acropolis where 17 Mayan emperors ruled over this UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the afternoon, you'll hike to Hacienda San Lucas and see the smaller Mayan ruins of Los Sapos before heading to a traditional location. It's a full day of ancient history and nature combined.

Copán to Tela - Triunfo de la Cruz
The landscape changes as you travel from the mountains down to the Caribbean coast, moving through coconut, palm, and banana plantations. You'll pass through the charming town of Tela and then reach Triunfo de la Cruz, Honduras's largest native Garifuna village. Here you can experience the distinct Garifuna culture, language, food, and traditional music and dance like Punta and Yancunu. The afternoon is yours to relax on the beaches.

Punta Izopo National Park
You'll board traditional Garifuna canoes or boats heading to Punta Izopo wildlife refuge. The journey takes you through jungle and mangrove areas along the Platano River where you can spot wildlife including over 185 bird species like toucans and other animals. After exploring, you'll spend time in the afternoon with local Garifuna communities and support their efforts.

Travel toward Punta Sal National Park, passing through the Garifuna fishing village of Bara Vieja and the village of Miami along the way. A boat trip on Los Micos Lagoon lets you see the local plants and animals. You'll learn the park's history including its connection to pirates like William Parker. Lunch is fresh catch prepared at a beachside Garifuna restaurant.

Las Mangas - Pico Bonito National Park
You'll head into Las Mangas village to explore Pico Bonito, Honduras's highest national park and second-highest mountain at 2,436 meters (7,992 feet). The 1,073 square kilometer park near La Ceiba has 75 percent untouched forest with incredible wildlife like sloths, tapirs, jaguars, and butterflies. Pick from hiking, swimming, or just relaxing. Optional activities include visiting women seamstresses, a five-hour hike to Bejuco waterfall, cooking classes, rafting, canopy tours, or yoga sessions.

Early morning you'll depart La Ceiba for a three-hour ferry to Roatán island. The island offers white sand beaches, coconut trees, and clear turquoise waters surrounded by vibrant coral reefs with over 4,000 fish species. Tourism infrastructure here is solid. You can try marine reserves on transparent hull boats, snorkeling, scuba diving, zip-lining through rainforest, visiting local villages, and eating Caribbean food at local restaurants.
