Banff National Park
You'll spend the day in Canada's first national park with plenty of options to choose from. Start with a helicopter flight over the Three Sisters Peaks if you want that perspective, or go for something more low-key like a float down the Bow River. If you're into activity, there's an e-bike and hiking route through Johnston Canyon that covers good ground. The gondola up Sulphur Mountain takes about 15 minutes and gives you views without the climbing effort. Early season visitors can do snowshoeing instead, and there's also a golf cart tour through wildlife corridors if you want to see what's around without exertion. By evening, head to one of the restaurant options for dinner, or if you're looking to relax before eating, the spa at Fairmont does that well.

Later in the day, you'll meet with a retired Royal Canadian Mounted Police member who can share stories about the Mounties and what that work was really like. This day takes you into the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies where conditions and your interests shape what you do. A peak hike through a fire-recovery area includes hot lunch midway, so you're looking at several hours for that option. If you prefer two wheels, the Harley Davidson sidecar tour covers open roads and handles a lot of ground without requiring your own riding. White-water rafting down the Athabasca River is another route if you want adrenaline and water. The Maligne Canyon and Lakes tour shows off dramatic cliffs and the landscape from a different angle. Early season opens up guided snowshoeing through less-traveled terrain. Any of these takes up most of your day, so picking one lets you really settle into that activity rather than rushing between things.
