  • Cycle to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Anuradhapura and enjoy a guided bicycle tour of the ancient city, riding through woodlands, exploring the ruins and getting a peek of the sacred old Bo Tree.
  • Step back in time as you explore Sri Lanka’s most important religious and heritage sites, including the Temple of Tooth Relic and Kataragama.
  • Join optional food crawls in most locations and connect with the best local street food – from the freshly caught seafood of Negombo to the pulsing night markets of Colombo, this is the best way to experience Sri Lanka’s food cuisine.
  • After cycling through cities, national parks and historic sites, take the chance to relax on the sandy beaches of the southern coast. A very well-organised trip. Great way to see Sri Lanka with people waving and saying hello to you when you cycle past their house. We were very well looked after by the cycling crew. Water was always topped up and we had a constant supply of snacks (mostly sugary, some fruits). Requires a reasonable level of fitness but most people in my group (some in their 70s) cycled all the way. There was one downhill day with potholes that most people disliked. Guide could have been more experienced but overall I would recommend.

Sri Lanka is a very beautiful country and the tour set up by Intrepid was a great way to explore. We were lucky in that we went up to Jaffna so got to see a part of the country that is less "touristy" than other parts as ventured back down. Our guide and drivers were superb and worked none stop for the full tour - as vegetarians a number of the activities around cooking were very "meat" orientated and unfortunately Intrepid had not passed this on but overall it was a great trip, with amazing sites - made better by a guide that went the extra mile. Accomodation was ok but in fairness based on what we paid I am not sure we expected much more - I get the impression that Intrepid don't necessarily audit their accommodation much as some of them are definitely getting tired but equally they were generally clean and accessible.

This tour is an excellent start to experiencing Sri Lanka’s wonderful culture, history and food. The local guide was excellent and had so much information to share about Sri Lanka’s history and religion while also ensuring we experienced local culture and food. The food experiences on this tour - cooking classes, market visits were exceptional and Sri Lanka is now my favourite Foodie destination. The hotels are also a highlight - beautiful rooms at very very nice hotels.
